Following from an email exchange with my sister that she started for remembering old songs, and then with Bogart's thread here about our top-25 ablums, I got the idea for this thread.

My original idea was to list the 15 songs that most represented my youth or that I played most or were most important to me when I was between 15 and 19 years of age. However, I quickly realized that I could in no way limit it to 15, so I thought 20, but still no. I was able though to force my list down to 30, which I decided to be an acceptable number to still make this thread. In order to do that though, I made the decision for myself to have a max-limit of 5 songs per year and only one song to represent any particular album.

The importance of music started much earlier than age 15 for me, as may be true for many of you, but I still think that most of us get most deeply into it in our mid to late teens, so the intention here in this thread is to focus your music memory on that time of your life, from age 15-19. Again though, for me going back to an even younger age, not referring to specific songs but to key artists, I first got into Blood, Sweat & Tears, Ennio Morricone, and McCartney & Wings, so they set the stage for what was to follow.

Ok, here are the 30 most representative songs of my youth. Some of them were released before I was 15 and even though I heard them at an earlier age they still continued to be important to me during that 15-19 time period. And final note, of course there are songs from that era that I later came to like more than some of the songs listed here, but most of those songs I discovered later.

1967 - The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly – Ennio Morricone
1970 - 40,000 Headmen – Blood, Sweat & Tears
1971 - Layla – Derek And The Dominos
1971 - New World In The Morning – Roger Whittaker
1972 - Heart Of Gold – Neil Young
1972 - I’ll Be Around – The Spinners
1972 - Superstition – Stevie Wonder
1973 - Lady – Styx
1973 - Worst Comes To Worst – Billy Joel
1974 - Band On The Run – McCartney & Wings
1974 - Swamp Witch – Jim Stafford
1975 - One Of These Nights – The Eagles
1976 - Long Time – Boston
1976 - On The Border – Al Stewart
1976 - Time To Hide – McCartney & Wings
1977 - Disco Inferno – The Trammps
1977 - Cold As Ice – Foreigner
1977 - Ebony Eyes – Bob Welch
1977 - Go Your Own Way – Fleetwood Mac
1977 - Swingtown – Steve Miller Band
1978 - Baker Street – Gerry Rafferty
1978 - Chase – Giorgio Moroder (Midnight Express)
1978 - Driver’s Seat – Sniff’n’ The Tears
1978 - Magnet And Steel – Walter Egan
1978 - Sultans Of Swing – Dire Straits
1979 - Hold On – Ian Gomm
1979 - Slow Train – Bob Dylan
1979 - Damned If I Do – Alan Parsons Project
1979 - Tusk – Fleetwood Mac
1979 - The Warriors Theme – Barry de Vorzon

As a teenager, I didn't really listen to the radio as most of the music annoyed me. Some exceptions were CBC's late night show "Brave New Waves" and Chris Shepherd's hour on Power 92.

i can't even do chronological order. plus i ended up listening to songs that were way before my time. then as i got older, i looked back and disavowed a LOT of bad, embarrassing music.

hair bands were very popular in the 80s, but few people admit to being headbangers now.

I thought it was 25. I made a list then trimmed it to that, and I don't really want to go back to adding stuff, so here's 28 in broadly chronological order (I think)

2007
Common People - Pulp
"The Take Over, the Break's Over" - Fall Out Boy
2008
Daddy's Home - Glasvegas
You've Made Your Bed (So Sleep In It) - You Me At Six
2009
Age of Consent - New Order
Leave Me Alone - New Order
Vanishing Point - New Order
Dream Attack - New Order
Turn My Way - New Order
Candy - Paolo Nutini
When it Rains - Paramore
Even Flow - Pearl Jam
Black - Pearl Jam
Rearviewmirror - Pearl Jam
Like a Friend - Pulp
Weird Fishes/Arpeggi - Radiohead
Do You Feel Safe? - The Xcerts
I See Things Differently - The Xcerts
2010
Given to Fly - Pearl Jam
Sleight of Hand - Pearl Jam
Doubt - Delphic
Wonderful Life - Hurts
L.S.F. - Kasabian
2011
Only the Young - Journey
Inside Job - Pearl Jam
Square 9 - Frightened Rabbit
Let it Happen - Jimmy Eat World
Walk - Foo Fighters

There's a lot of music released in this period that subsequently meant a lot to me which would probably have been included here if I'd known it at the time.
