Decided not to do a 16th overall poll because Hasbro will eventually return with his "Team Mock Draft" thread I think. Decided to make it a bit more interesting with just goalers since we probably take one with one of our five draft picks within the top 3 rounds...right?

Has anybody watched Podkolzin play in the U18 yet? I haven’t. But I’m curious how he’s looking because he hasn’t cracked the scoresheet and I feel like that isn’t what you hope to see from a top 4 pick.

It's a toss up between Alnefelt and Kochetkov on who I think they will take, since they're both random Euro league goalies :sarcasm:

Askarov & Wallstedt looking just as nasty is a better argument against picking Knight this year, depending on who falls to #16, since we should be picking later in future drafts...when the skater quality could be less than what could be available to us this year.

This is why we're in this mess. If Knight is there, take him, quit waiting for the problem to solve itself.

You, of all people cgf...

Missing a whole bunch of Euros, including som random overagers :sarcasm:. In fact, Konovalov probably should be an option. Voted Alnefelt. Huge Swedish netminder with good numbers.

What mess are we in exactly?

Not answering for Barklez. But I've seen the Avs futile attempts (the mess) at trying to draft/develop a #1 goalie the past several years. It seems that the Avs aren't committed to adding blue chip/Grade A talent at the goalie position via the draft. Why? None of the goalies we've drafted in the 2nd round ever amounted to much. Certainly nothing close to being a #1/long-term starting goalie. Time to fix the problem I think. This adds up to going against the grain and drafting a top goalie prospect in the first round. We have two first round picks this year so now is the opportunity. Or, the Avs can continue with the gamble of trading for a somewhat developed goalie prospect (Varly/Grubs) hoping they work out as our starting goalie. I'm obviously in favor of adding goalie talent in the first round - Knight.

I think the gamble of trading for a developed goalie prospect isn't exactly a gamble and has a higher success rate tbh. Our trades for both Varly and Grubauer worked well and while I know it's a small sample size have hit 100%. I doubt we'd hit that with drafting them. We have successfully traded for 2 starters for a 1st and 2 2nds that's very good value.

He did have a good playoffs. Both Cozens and Dach have very similar #'s though. 1.18 vs 1.23 or .05 of a difference.

But Dach isn't applying himself. If he applied himself he would be the better player.

Neither impress me that much tbh. Hoping we land Byram.

Pod or Byram, who ever is available. If Avs don't go that route, then they are betting against what most scouts are agreeing on. They are telling us that Pod is the 3rd OA pick. We need to pick BPA.

While Pod may be the 3rd best prospect according to the scouts I have a hard time believing an actual GM will sign off on that pick in the top 5.
