I think Broberg has the highest ceiling of any defender in this class save Byram. His floor is a top 4 D, and I'd say he has easy top pair upside in his prime with that size, skating, and IQ combo.

You need to listen to the latest BSN podcast. Lots of Broberg talk and according to them, the floor is much, much lower than that.

Well that's nice, but I'll go with my own viewings, thanks. It's mostly based on his international performances, and if you watched him play there and don't remain optimistic about him as a prospect, I don't know what I can tell you to change your mind.

My worry about Zebras isn’t him as a prospect, it’s about the organization have the patience to let him fully develop. He may need to go the Makar route of 2 years in college, but will he have the self-awareness that Cale did to go back if he needs it?
It depends on how good his freshman season is, if he has a Farabee type of impact (EP his stats) then I would absolutely sign him and start him in the AHL next season with some NHL games.

Who at BSN can we say is a good prospect watcher?

Jost had great stats his year at UND too though (could be argued that Boeser was a big part of that though). The problem with him is that they dropped him in the NHL, and left him there to figure it out afterwards. I would be ok with Zebras having a good year at BC (?) and then signing and maybe finishing next season with an Eagles playoff run similar to Bowers this year. It’s that D+2 where you have to be careful.

Yeah, some of AJ’s takes on a lot of stuff are yikes lol. Like the Wild Bill situation

No offence to the BSN folks and fans but if that’s where you’re getting your prospect info you’re gonna have a bad time.

Voted Other, as in some other round. If we’re using the picks, I want forward + forward. None of these guys really move the needle for me for some reason. I guess Seider if I HAD to choose

No worse than the the posters here. Some good, some not so much. Not a single person here I agree with 100%, and same goes for the BSN crew. But AJ and NR do actually watch prospects and not just stat-scout. Personally, I tend to question some of the judgement calls they make. And when they had Dater in the mix, his ideas of what were needed were, shall we say, downright Jurassic at times.

Overall, they are no worse than the folks here. Nor are they any worse than other media outlets...Wheeler at The Athletic has Dorofeyev at 15, two spots ahead of Podkolzin. Button's last published list had Jakob Pelletier and Ilya Nikolaev ahead of Dach, Krebs and others. Everyone has different opinions and preferences.

I'd be happiest with either Seider or Broberg. I love Broberg's skating and positioning, and Seider basically has ice cold veins, he's so calm and fluid out there.

Yeah, I mean, nobody had better insight than him on Elliott and Siemens, and just like he predicted, they're a force as our 2nd pair today.

People make mistakes. I too was high on those two having watched them quite a bit. Same thing in the Landeskog vs Larsson discussion where I was in Larsson's corner etc. As far as I remember he was more right than wrong.

Don't do that.

Anybody who gives their opinion and takes on prospects is going to be wrong. If you have a hit rate at 50% or something, you are probably elite at it. There is a reason we have about a dozen prospect in the first round every year who doesn't even become NHLers.
