Tavaras is so bleh

should have just ran with the youth and used the money on defense

Trading the engine of the team in Kadri for a dud in Barrie set them back too

Kadri, much like Kesler was for Vancouver back in their hey day...was the straw and stirred the drink.
Kadri was their backbone and sandpaper, Leafs don't have anyone to fill that role.

Marner, Matthews, Tavaras, Nylander are not sandpaper type players.

JT is a talented 1C. But he wasn’t a need for the Leafs. Need to spend on what you don’t have.

if you sign JT then make a trade to fill the D using one of the other young guys.

That trade was terrible. I can't believe people thought that was a good trade for Toronto at the time.

They were -- they were rebuilt in the perfect way. You're making the mistake of judging by the actual results.

If that is perfect perfect they should be way better than playoff bubble team , not tough enough and not good enough D to scare many teams if they make the playoffs.

What is the policy behind these EBUG? Cause where would you find one in Florida, TB, LV, Carolina for example?

In Vancouver you have ubc, bchl clubs in Langley, Coquitlam, Surrey to draw from.

if that leafs and Canes happened in Carolina what would they have done for a goalie?

I was unaware of the perfect way to rebuild a team is with no defensemen. Definitely a bold strategy. Canucks are trying as hard as they can to follow that trend too.

Andersen let more goals in than David Ayers. Leafs are “fine”.

Leafs had, what, 6 shots in the 3rd period against a 42 year old, and a team on a b2b. Leafs are “fine”.

The fact it happened to the Leafs on HNIC is goddamn f***ing hockey porn.

Off to HFLeafs I go.

Is it just me or was watching Foegele just stand aside and do nothing after his goaltender got steamrolled really infuriating?

Maybe I'm basing this off one split second decision, but there's a guy who I hope never plays on the Canucks.

Leafs forum is imploding right now. The thread titles are glorious

A young man tries to change the world, a wise man tries to change himself.

Kyle Dubas appeared to be pushing back against conventional wisdom in hockey, building his team with the intention of outscoring their problems. He obviously doesn't subscribe to some of the beliefs about toughness, grit, character and having guys in the bottom 6 to do the heavy lifting.

This could end up costing Dubas his job. If it doesn't, he will go one of 2 ways after this; question whether he was ahead of his time and saw something so few before him did, or start to conform to conventional roster building practices and change the complexion of his group. The Kyle Clifford acquisition was a sign that maybe he saw some of the err in his ways.

Will be fascinating to see where this ends up.
