Him, Coots, and Downie were a really fun line to watch. I think he'll surprise a team that gives him a PTO

I've always liked undrafted guys, like Matty, who work hard and put together a good NHL career.

Best of luck!

The only time he performed well was when I would go to the games. He had a 3 point game I believe, against the Islanders a couple years ago.

He was a good 3rd line/PK’er at one point

Thanks for giving it your all Reader. A fantastic surprise from when you were signed and a fine career so far. Hopefully he finds himself on another team in a role he excels in.

The only team that is sentimental enough to keep someone like Matt Read around much longer than they should.

He was fun to watch for a little while but then again so was Wellwood. The sentimentality of a player who hasn't been very good for years is just that.

They're far from the only team, and not the worst team. Look at the Red Wings.

Loved his first few years. He should be able to jump on another nhl roster

A lot of people are being a little harsh on Read about his future prospects for a job. He's nno getting a huge deal by any means, but I am more than confident he'll be in the NHL somewhere.

Back in a day 4th lines were reserved for facepunchers and 3rd lines were for defensively nresponsible players who can chip in.

I liked Matt Read, he was a much better player than the scrubs that made up the forth line for the majority of the year. It's too bad he couldn't retrieve his former offensive abilities from a couple of years ago. Good luck, Matty!
