The key issue is Embiid, he simply hasn't learned how to play well with others on offense.
When the ball comes to him, it's like a black hole, and everyone stands and watches.
And Embiid and Horford and Harris should not be on the floor together, too slow on defense.

Though one should remember that Simmons is 23, Embiid is 25, Richarson, Thybelle, Milton, Smith, Korkmaz are young, Harris is only 27.
The only old man is Horford, and even Robinson and Burks are young enough to bring back if warranted.
So Brand did the right thing by not panicking.

Embiid is just out of shape.....Okafor was a black hole bc he had no damn athleticism. Embiid does but right now he trots up and down the floor bc he is eating waffle fries and his bum hand seems to have gotten in his head. Tonight at least he is more active..but this is the Grizzlies at home....expect it.

Ja Morant is a true leader. His body language and activity on and off the court is well beyond his years.

Korkmaz was like: 'Enough of this ********, let me go ahead and save the season now'

EDIT: Good thing the entire NBA slept on him this summer allowing Brand to unwittingly undo what would have been an egregious mistake by not picking up his option.

Adding Burks and Robinson to Thybelle, Milton, Richardson and Simmons gives this team the athleticism to go with various small lineups and hound teams.
Harris is athletic for a PF but not a SF, Horford for a center but not a PF, Scott for a PF.
Pelle gives them a backup center who can run the floor.
Korkmaz is an average athlete at SF, but his defense has improved from dismal to mediocre, which is all he needs (Reddick wasn't much of a defender, and Korver is slow).
So you can go Horford/Pelle/Simmons at center, Harris/Scott/Simmons at PF, Korkmaz/Thybelle/Robinson at SF, Burks/Milton, Thybelle at 2G, and Simmons/ Neto/Milon at PG (Simmons can play all five spots).

They need these various options for a speed lineup, when they go Embidd - Horford - Harris they have only average speed and quickness on the floor, even with Simmons and Richardson - a good group to match against big lineups, but not against a lot of athletic lineups.

When Shayok and Smith grow up, this team will be able to matchup against anyone

How about those Raptors? 10 straight road wins....13 straight wins overall.

:sarcasm:

All without Gasol, Powell and Lowry went out hurt too.
