And that's 100% where the issue between the two sides is. I'm sure Waddell/Dundon want 8 while Aho wants 5. They'll probably end up at something around 9x6.

It may be just me...but the price usually rises with the term, given he's selling more prime years.

So if the ask is 9.5m/5yrs...i can hardly see how 9/6 works out. Guess Canes are pushing for 7/8 years but aren't willing to give up 10-11M for that term.

Carolina is well within their right to ask for a longer deal if that’s the AAV Aho’s camp is looking for. At the end of the day, Carolina will give in on Aho’s salary ask if he gives in on Carolina’s term ask.

So maybe that $6m x 8 year deal that was rumored was actually 6 years at $8 million and that's why it's been reported they are close. Cant be mad at a guy betting on himself with a shorter term deal.
