Too close to Ottawa and Montreal
Seeing 61 and 63 looking good I took a glance at mine 58,not so good. Something like
Higgins B. Smith Payne (line from Ottawa 67s)
PMcLean Makarov McKegney
Walter Poulin D. Sutter
Smyl Derlago Secord

Fetisov K Samuelsson
Marsh Giles
Queeneville Huber

Steve Weeks
Bob Froese

Fetisov would play 35 to 40 minutes a night, lots of depth forwards.
A whole lot of NHL coaches and /or gms due to age I guess.
I left Billy D in for sentimental reasons, arguably he belongs. Goaltending ugh.

I thought it could be a fun exercise trying to build the best team that you can based on players born the same year as you. Don't have to spend a long time putting a team together, it's just for fun.

Team 1985:
Ovie-Getzlaf-Perry
Eriksson-Bergeron-Horton
Ladd- Carter-Stafford
MacArthur-Stastny-Callahan
Mike Richards, Travis Zajac

Burns-Weber
Seabrook-Suter
Byfuglien-Green
Phanuef

Halak
Hutton

Also an 85, it was a very strong year for NHLers.

I'd maybe put in a lefty over Green just to balance it out a bit. ALso add Jay Beagle for faceoffs/PK prowess

Ovechkin-Getzlaf-Perry
Eriksson-Bergeron-Carter
Ladd- Stastny-Stafford
MacArthur-Beagle-Callahan
Richards/Horton

Suter-Weber (remember those ol buds?)
Burns - Byfuglien
Phaneuf - Seabrook
*Goligoski

Hutton
Halak

Offence and goaltending kicks ass. Holy moly that defence......

Marchand-Toews-Kane
Pacioretty-Giroux-Simmonds
Lucic-Jo.Staal-Okposo
Hagelin-Anisimov-Perron

Alzner-E. Johnson
Bartkowski-Demers
Y.Weber-McBain

Bobrovski
Varlamov

yeah that team would get creamed lol. 0 of those dmen are top pairing and only 1 is a top 4.

86 has already been done, so I will do 1990, the year my brother was born.

Steven Stamkos-John Tavares-Anders Lee
Jordan Eberle-Nazem Kadri-Marcus Johansson
Adam Henrique-Tyler Johnson-Derek Stepan
Tomas Tatar-Jakob Silferberg-Jonathan Marchessault

Erik Karlsson-Victor Hedman
Alex Pietrangelo-John Carlson
Roman Josi-Matias Ekholm

Martin Jones
Jake Allen

Honourbale mentions on D:
Marco Scandella
Jake Gardiner
TJ Brodie

Something must have been in the water in 1990. What a solid crop of players.

you have 7 or 8 dmen better than the 1988 guy

Sakic

Are your four centres. With that D I think you beat my 1970 team but it'd be close! ;-)

Edit: Insert Rob Zamuner for your PK/energy line...lose Odgers

JEFF ODGERS. There's a name I haven't heard in awhile. Met him around the rink when he was with the Thrashers. Played with his son for a few years. He would get stuff signed for us and help out with practices here and there. Super guy, like a lot of those tough guys were.

1982 (holy ERGH....)

Gaborik - Plekanec - Pominville
Cammalleri - Boyes - Hartnell
Vermette - Umberger - Penner
Frolov - Stoll - Clowe

Hamhuis - Ehrhoff
Andy Greene - Z. Mikalek
N. Schultz - Ballard

Lundqvist - Rinne

(I think the goaltending would be the only thing worthwhile on THIS team... Maybe a bit of offense...)

But maybe you ice that team on the Mcdcvid draft year? You'll definitely get him. That D.... oh man

Solid team, no ‘61 ‘65 or 87 for receny bias, but this group would of been cup contenders from about 2007-2013ish with guys properly slotted and pretty decent depth.
