I'd glad DiPietro made it...will he start or will Esche? The local media is going to go nuts when they stick a mic in front of JR's face :) Can't wait till the training camp starts.

No Gomez :shakehead

Who needs a young player that lead the league in assists, has already recorded 2 70-point seasons, and been to the finals 3 times?

So Gomez didn't crack the team. He probably was unwise in not going to the World Championships.
Gomez > Rolston, Halpren, Langenbrunner.

They should have kept Shjon Podein...

The U.S. has several playmaking centers. Gomez is not a great defensive player, so he wasn't going to have a role on the 3rd or 4th lines. He probably didn't do himself any favors by withdrawing from the WC's either.

Gomez and Malone would be nice to see, to add some youth to the team

Hull is just washed up, he proved that in the Detroit/Calgary series

Are you the same guys complaining about Maltby and Draper being on Team Canada? Don't you get the point of a well rounded roster? This is a team being set-up to win a tournament, not an all-star team. Guys like Halpern and Rolston are going to great on the PK and in checking the other team's top lines.

Thats probably it because I can't think of any other reason they would keep him off. Especially with the team aging as it is.

Who cares? This team is built for winning the World Cup THIS YEAR. It's not like this group of players will be together forever.

First time in a while John Leclair hasn't been on the team, eh?

Yeah, but it's not all that suprising.

LeClair forgot where the net was located.

I was talking about offensively. not defensively.

Of course you have to have your defensive players.

No Scott Gomez !!

Who was he going to displace at center? Not Modano, Roenick and Weight. It came down to him and Craig Conroy, and there's no way Conroy was going to be left off the team. Conroy, Halpern, and Rolston will make a killer 4th line.

The difference is that Gomez is a playmaking center, and while he is a budding superstar, he's not going to play over Modano or Roenick or Weight in that role. No one will argue that Gomez isn't a better playmaker, scorer than Rolston, Halpern, or Langenbruner, but they were chosen to play specific roles. This team was built in the same manner as Team Canada, because there are a buttload of Canadians far more talented then Draper or Maltby.
