BTW, yesterday Khudobin played 50 minutes in Metallurg Mg @ Lokomotiv game. He changed Malkov at the 10th minute of the 1st period. Lokomotiv led 2:0 at that moment. Khudobin was excellent. It was the first time I've seen this guy. He helped his team to make 3:2 comeback and was named 1st star of the game.

My prediction for WJC team:

Ovechkin - Malkin – Parshin Two future superstars and franchise players who built like tanks with excellent "set up" player
Radulov - Yun'kov - Voloshenko "It's all about chemistry" line
Lisin - Pestunov - Ogorordnikov/Makarov Extremely fast and skilled Lisin who has locked spot in "AkBars All Stars" with very experienced two-way center as Pestunov (It's his 3rd WJC).
Glazachev - A. Nikulin - Shafigulin Defensive line. A. Nikulin is positional monster that plays between Frolov and Zherdev in RSL + combo of Lokomotiv players with good chemistry.
Makarov/Ogorodnikov

Pervyshin - Rylov Just our best
Vorobiev - Panin Both from "Lada". Both has spots in the best defensive minded team in RSL + Chemistry.
Megalinsky - Misharin Big, tough guys
Belov

Khudobin – You’ve seen him at ReMax. You know his performance and abilities.
Kuznetsov

Yeeee!!! Go Khudobin! It is so important to have a confident goalie! :handclap:
Hell of a team!

so is Radulov on the team?
Read above. Coach Bragin said that Radulov is locked and Radulov isn't on the list for training camp cause he(Bragin) saw his (Radulov) abilities at ReMax and Alex will join squad at NA. There is no need to shake him from NA to Russia, than again to NA.

I don't think the list posted was the final list. An article came out yesterday on Russianprospects.com and here were some of the players predicted. I would link the article, but you have to be premium to read it, and I am certainly not premium :/.

Where's Ezhov? I would think he's one of the better defensemen for Russia no after playing in last years wjc's.

I simply don't what your opinion based on :dunno: Well, i seen him playing a week ago in Moscow against RSL leader Dynamo. His team won 3-2 after trailing 0-2, but to say Ezhov was playing bad is seems for me as compliment for him. :shakehead Unfortunately. Poor decisions with the puck, stupid mistakes, bad passes. Yeah, he was physical sometimes but that's all.
He was really regressing last year in CSKA.

What role do you see Pervershyn playing on the team? Us Blues fans are praying he develops into a Rafalski type :)

All, In my humble opinion.

Puck moving D and PP QB. JM Liles, imho, is better comparison ;)

He is from Kazakhstan. According IIHF rules players are allowed to change citizenship one time. He made it.

What are the odds of Yunkov making the squad? And how did he end up looking in the last few games of the Russia/Canada challenge thing?

In the last game vs WHL I thought he was one of the few Russian standouts, imo. He was all over the ice causing trouble and mixing it up.

I haven't seen him play, but I'm surprised to hear he is doing so poorly. I just figured he would be a lock after doing well on last years team. Over here it's hard to get good info on Russian players, but I would have figured Ezhov and Lyamin locks for the team, oh well. I'm just glad Yemelin got an invited to the camp.

I'd be surprised if Sergei Shirokov and Nikolai Lemtyugov are left off the training camp roster altogether. If there were two players that stood out for me in the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge, aside from the big line of Voloshenko-Yunkov-Radulov and of course Khudobin, it's definitely those two players.

Lemtyugov, in particular, really impressed me. He has some shift-disturbing elements to his game, but he's REALLY skilled as well.

This is going to be an outstanding tournament!

:handclap:

So Nikulin is a defensive specialist?
Has he improved his physical game over this year?
No, but he is good two-way forward in my opinion. He knows how organize his line's game. He can play on both sides: defense and offence. Imho, he could bring offence to 4th line without hurting defensive minded play of that line.

Wow! Ovechkin is a monster.
Today, Dynamo @ Lokomtiv game. Middle of the 2nd period. Ovechkin was in the corner on his knees and fought for puck. Curtis Murphy came with speed to the corner and pulled Ovechkin head to the board. It looked very ugly. Imho, it was very close to Bertuzzi vs. Chelios episode. I was going to start topic about Ovechkin injury, but ... he just laid down half minute on the ice and then came to the bench. In the next shift Ovechkin was already at the PP unit (Murphy was penalized for 2 PIM for this hit).

This guy is made from steel! .

here in Canada everyone is talking about Crosby, but I just can't help but get excited about Ovechkin.

this kid is only 19, and has already been named to the team of the year in the RSL, he's represented Russia at the WJC, WC and even the WORLD CUP! I was right there in the stands when Ovechkin, a 19 year old kid, scored a goal on Slovakia against grown men who play in the NHL! what an unbelieveable guy!

and the way he handled himself after that Gonchar incident was fanastic to IMO. he got victimized by the media and fans because he injured a star player, and yet he didn't blink an eye, and said that if he was in the same situation again, he would still make that hit on Gonchar because he is playing hockey, and not chess. some may consider it cocky, but I think it shows that this guy knows what he's doing, and that just because someone is a star, he wont give Gonchar any special treatment.

I hope Ovechkin and Malkin dominate the hell out of this tournament.

Me too ... I thought I'd make a thread, but when he got up and continued to play as if nothing had happened I changed my mind.

Does Glazachev had a legit chance of making the team? He hasn't exactly lit it up this year in the RSL, but he has the talent.

Yeah, I was wondering about Glazachev myself. He wasn't even invited to the training camp, but I'm still not sure if that's the final list.
