Desert Knights? I hate it. Sounds like some minor league baseball team or something, not what I'd expect out of an NHL team. I can't think of a name that makes me think of hockey less than "Desert Knights." I don't know why they want a two word nickname seeing as their city name is also two words. Las Vegas Desert Knights is a mouthful, and doesn't really roll off the tongue well. I hope it's not the actual name.

1. Knights (Simple and makes you think of Vegas nights: lights and action)
2. Silver Knights (The Silver State, come to Vegas to get a lot of coin, Stanley Cup is silver, so apt)
3. Desert Knights (army references and landform of the state reference and refreshing change maybe in team colors)
4. Nothing Hawks related, please. (Blackhawks is enough)

The London Knights of the OHL released a statement saying the Las Vegas franchise had been in serious discussions with them about the rights to the name – which Foley confirmed.

“It’s been interesting and some of the issues we’ve had have really related around the usage of names we’re interested in,” Foley said. “There’s prior usage by some other entity and generally speaking I’m really speaking about a college, a particular college or university that has the rights to the name and they have a hockey team. Then one of the names – we were kind of interested in was the Knights but I was never just keen on just Knights. I wanted to have something along with Knights. The London Knights never said no. We never really followed up with them because Knights itself wasn’t a name we felt was quite right for what we were trying to accomplish.

Oh god. Some posters around here are right. Maybe Foley does have some bad taste. If this is true then I truly don't know what to say. Just Knights on its own is fine. He doesn't even have a grasp on what it was about Black Knights that fans didn't like. Or he does and he doesn't care.

Desert Knights it's just so lame and tacky sounding. The Desert is so horribly redundant. They wouldn't call San Jose the San Jose Pacific Sharks or Ocean Sharks. It's so SO ****ing dumb. I mean really if I was part of a beer league team that meant literally nothing and barely even competed I would still firmly veto the name Las Vegas Desert Knights. Make that the mascot of some new middle school not this team...please.

I know I'm being dramatic but I really hate that name.
