If someone is missing the roster of team Italy, I'm missing it too. The training camp started last week, but the Italian federation was not able to send any press release out. I know, it's pretty embarrassing.

Andreas Bernard and Thomas Larkin will join the team after the DEL finals. Not sure how many players from HC Pustertal will do it too, for sure Armin Helfer, Armin Hofer and Markus Gander, may be Tommaso Traversa and Raphael Andergassen.

Where’s Plastino. Has he ended his national career?
Plastino had some talks with the head coach of team Italy during the season, but I assume he denied the invitation (probably he didn't found a deal with the Italian Hockey Federation).

Hochkofler from Red Bulls Salzburg joined the team and will be on the ice tonight against GB in Coventry. Really sad that the press spokesman of Italian hockey does not know his first name... not Thomas but Peter.

I don't think Enrico Miglioranzi and Roland Hofer will make the final roster. Beddoes needs also to cut some forwards and this will be a really though decision.

I know Slovenia are not Elite team currently, but two pretty encouraging victories for Italy to be fair.

Tommaso Goi, Daniel Glira and Enrico Miglioranzi out. I never expected the coaching staff to decide against Goi and Glira and for players from a very low level league like the AlpsHL.

I wouldn't feel too encouraged by now. Slovenia lost their first two games in Division 1A. Actually fighting to avoid relegation by now.

Goi out? He always looked to me as one of the better players for the Italian team.
The players from the AlpsHL have a little chance to be competitive in my opinion. The level of this league is low indeed, comparing it to the Czech leagues for example, it can be something like the Czech3. Even if they spot the best guys from this league, they will still not be able to accept the tempo of the WCH at all.

Guys, any ideas who will have the most points from this team till the end of WHC? Maybe Diego Kostner? :sarcasm:

I would be surprised if would not be him ( Morini) . He was this saison one of the Lugano( NLA team )best players . He had made great progress in all aspect of the play.

But no single point for him at 2 matches against Slovenia and in last 12 matches only 1 point for a goal. Is he ready to be leader of national team in points?

Italy released the final roster. According with assistant coach Giorgio De Bettin, Italians Canadians needed to perform more than other players in order to get a spot.

G
Gianluca Vallini (27/10/1993/Wipptal Broncos – Alps Hockey League)
Marco De Filippo Roia (02/09/1990/SG Cortina – Alps Hockey League)
Andreas Bernard (09/06/1990/Adler Mannheim – Del )

Here is where Italy has a big problem, because Andreas Bernard is currently the only one goalie able to play at that level. Maybe the young Davide Fadani of HC Lugano in 4-5 years, but not right now.

D

Armin Helfer (31/05/1980/HC Val Pusteria – Alps Hockey League)
Armin Hofer (19/03/1987/HC Val Pusteria – Alps Hockey League)
Roland Hofer (24/06/1990/Wipptal Broncos – Alps Hockey League)
Stefano Marchetti (11/10/1986/HC Bolzano – Ebel)
Ivan Tauferer (26/01/1995/Rittner Buam – Alps Hockey League)
Luca Zanatta (15/05/1991/EHC Olten – LNB )
Alex Trivellato (05/01/1993/Krefeld Pinguine – DEL )
Jan Pavlu (16/09/1994/Heilbronner Falken – DEL2)
Sean McMonagle (19/01/1988/Frisk Asker )

Unfortunately the lack of size cannot be mitigated without Thomas Larkin (out of injury) and no Nick Plastino (he didn't accepted) means very little offensive contribution on the powerplay. Roland Hofer and Ivan Tauferer never played at that level before and may become overwhelmed.

F

Markus Gander (16/05/1989/HC Val Pusteria – Alps Hockey League)
Raphael Andergassen (14/06/1993/HC Val Pusteria – Alps Hockey League)
Ivan De Luca (28/07/1997/HC Bolzano – Ebel)
Peter Hochkofler (10/04/1994/EC Salzburg – Ebel)
Marco Insam (05/06/1989/HC Bolzano – Ebel)
Anthony Robert Bardaro (08/09/1992/Asiago Hockey 1935 – Alps Hockey League)
Diego Kostner (05/08/1992/ HC Ambrì Piotta – LNA)
Simon Kostner (30/11/1990/Rittner Buam – Alps Hockey League)
Alex Lambacher (07/10/1996/ Heilbronner Falken – Del 2)
Angelo Miceli (01/03/1994/HC Bolzano – Ebel)
Joachim Ramoser (22/02/1995/ERC Inglostadt – Del)
Marco Rosa Gonzales (15/01/1982/Asiago Hockey 1935 – Alps Hockey League)
Giovanni Morini (02/02/1995/HC Lugano – LNA)

Giulio Scandella will be badly missed and the lack of scoring wings in the team will became deeper. An offensive center with creativity and capable to read the game would help a lot, but there isn't any. Marco Rosa is over the hill and will probably not be able to play consistently 7 games in only 9 days. Diego Kostner and Giovanni Morini had both a great season in the NLA and are expected to give a great contribution but meanly in terms of discipline and work ethic. The biggest question mark is about Beddoes: will he be able to manage a WC as head coach?

Giovanni Morini left the game early today and had a medical check in the hospital. Most likely he is gonna to be replaced by somebody else like Tommaso Goi.
