2018 Olympics might be a wash... but what will the team look like in 2022?

The kids will be developed and we could have a pretty exciting team then.

Laine-Barkov-Puljujärvi
Granlund-Aho-Tolvanen
Vesalainen-Borgström-Rantanen
Saarela- Teräväinen-Kapanen

Juolevi-Ristolainen
Heiskanen-Välimäki
Honka-Vaakanainen

Saros/Raanta

Our future is bright indeed. Only thing which is a bit problem seems to be, that we are still lacking couple top end center prospects. :help:

surely Juolevi is on it.
I see you missed the memo saying that the NHL isn't letting any NA-based player participate as long as they have an active contract, no matter the league and level.

Only exception are those out on a loan to an European club.

- Defence is WAY too small
- Granlund is not a center, Borgstrom probably takes #3 C, MiG replaces Kapanen
- I love Komarov, but his playstyle doesn't indicate longevity
- I can't speak for Kupari or Kotkaniemi, but Armia and Salomaki are good choices for 4th line and penalty killing
- Valimaki & Vaakanainen probably end up on defense... possibly Kokkonen
- Plenty of other players contending for forward spots
- (other stuff I'm forgetting)

Lehkonen is up there. Old man Koivu might still make it and Granny is better as winger. I actually don't know who's 1C, Barky is elite 2C when we will need scoring; maybe Aho can do it, or maybe Barky is okay with the elite wingers we now have. Haula is super 4C, Filppula or Lehtera could be 3C options. Teravainen isn't yet up for C duties. We need a 1C? And all of this is assuming NHL mysteriously releases most of these just because. -- You Ajax84 made an effort so I'll point out the spelling is Juolevi.

Edit: Oops, 2022. Maybe no angry Birch then.

Barkov will still be in his prime in 2022 (27yo) and no offense to Aho, but his NHL resume is one season as a winger. Barkov has been a legit NHL 1C a month or two into his rookie season.
