Yeah it's been horrendous so far but this seems a bit premature.
We're still in this tournament. No reason to not root for the team until we're out (let that be the round robin or finals or anything in between). There's a reasonable time for this sort of ultimate doom and gloom - and it's not quite yet.

Our defense could be elite next year.
Juolevi- Heiskanen
Valimaki- Salo
Vaakanainen- Niemelainen.
Our defense this year has been the only positive, behind that garbage goaltending, coach and offense our defense has managed to do well against every 4 teams they played against. Now add another year of development for those kids with a great coach and who knows.
Then Kuokkanen, Vesalainen, Tolvanen and Rasanen should be expected to do something in WJC '18.

2018 Finland Roster Talk
Now that this nightmare after Christmas is over for Team Finland for this year, it's time to look forward and start the long (and ultimately meaningless) discussion of what will the team look come December 2017.
Here are some of my thoughts.

Hopefully there will be more swag and intellect in next year's team. Talking about the "golden era" and comparing to Sweden I must add there is still much work to do and miles to cover.
Finland's junior program must implement further changes in its strategic and guiding principles and objectives. Along the lines I have outlined previously.
Why is a Swedish prospect and a collective of such players much more skilled and cerebeal than the Finnish counterpart still? Cuz the Finnish system and related underlying hockey and coaching culture suck still in the big picture
As I said we need an 'academic culture revolution' in Finnish hockey. And more intelligent players and even still more skilled players in average to come out of the youth ranks going forward.

I actually forgot Turkulainen, I should have listed him as a possibility.
Nurmi, Oksanen, Makinen, Somppi and Kotkansalo are definite possibilities, but I very much prefer the guys I listed over them. Obviously these players can develop a hell of a lot in a year, making these listings futile in the end, but hey, gotta pass the time somehow.
