Is Juvonen injured or something? Rather have him as third guy than Kähkönen.

How big will the camp roster be? 30 guys?

So now that there's no clear 2nd C do you guys think H.Ikonen colud take that place? Even know he's primarily a winger maybe we could try something like this for offense:

Lehkonen - Teräväinen - Mäenalanen
Haapala - H.Ikonen - J.Ikonen
Nikko - Kinnunen - Kapanen
Lammikko - Mustonen - Rutanen

So... no Aleksi Saarela. Otherwise, pretty much what was expected.

Lammikko would have been perfect to 4th line, but he is -96 so 2 years to prove himself.

Wonder why they didn't pick Tanus, stat-wise he's been playing pretty well overseas. But overall I think the squad looks more like a team. Not a lot of individuals (compared to last few years) and solid goaltenders.

Pretty well? More like mediocre, if you ask me. 9+13 in 31 games and -9 is nothing to write home about.

I guess when you call a player from overseas, he has to be a lock, or at least rather close to a lock. Tanus hasn't shown anything to earn that kind of status. If he can play C, he could have deserved a look in the current situation, even if his +/- is pretty abysmal for a centre. And as a winger, well, I think we have enough guys closer to home who are not good but not bad either.

There's nothing Tanus would have brought to the team that isn't there already. He's yet another midget with somewhat mediocre offense. He just plays in a different league than most of the others. All the players brought in from NA have their own specialty and therefore a place on the team. What is Tanus's specialty and who should have been left out in order to get him aboard? It wouldn't have been a scandal had he been in, but what would his purpose have been? I can't think of one.

For what it's worth, Tanus' leadership qualities do appear better than average, given how he's been captain multiple times in various lower age groups. But as you said, even that is something other players can provide just as well.

So, what will be Honka's role in the D corps? Will he see PP time? Top4 dman? A key figure or 7th dman?

Hard to say which pair he plays in on even strength. But since he's a puck-mover, he ought to be part of the PP corps, along with Ristolainen, Pokka and likely Lindell.

IIRC, Honka was on the 2nd PP unit in Lake Placid. That's where I'd expect to see him in the tournament as well. Määttä and Pokka were on the 1st unit and I think the 4th PP dman in that tournament was Vainonen, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Anyone who shortly can translate what they are talking about? (a)
Given it's all in English, there ain't much to translate. (We can't use Finnish here, mind you.)

But if there are parts you had difficulties to catch, please point those out. I made it all out just fine.
