It's an interesting team but at the same this kind of mixture of players in tight games can perform really well or really bad.. In any case it will be interesting to take a look at Denmark's young guns at this level.

Too many opt outs and injuries. The only one it will benefit is coach Ehlers. Now no one will blame him if Denmark will finish 12-14.

Well, a small country like Denmark can't afford that many pure opt outs (F. Nielsen, Bjorkstrand x 2, Hardt, Philip Larsen, Mads Christensen, (Jannik Hansen)). A line like e.g. Hardt, P. Bjorkstrand and M. Christensen could have been a great 3. line. Now everything probably has to come from the two first lines (1. Bødker, Eller, NJ, O. Lauridsen, Bruggi? 2. Storm, Regin, Bau, M. Lauridsen, Jesper Abo Jensen?)

Your last sentence is the key here. Heinz Ehlers has begun a new era with more young players. It will be very interesting to see how they approach this opportunity. A guy like Blichfeld has shined in the exhibition matches I have watched being a very important player on this team going forward, if he continues his progress.

Well we are 12th on the world ranking, so everything better than that would be progress, no?

Patrick Bjorkstrand is no way near the level he was a couple of years ago. Mads Christensen has been injured almost all season, so not sure what he could possibly bring. Hardt has retired from the NT due to a weakened body, so not sure what he could bring either. Philip Larsen is being Philip Larsen.

Hmm...if we finish better than 12th, yes that will be a great succes, I agree. I don't agree totally on Patrick Bjorkstrand, Mads Christensen and Hardt, but maybe you're right - it's not good enough for the 3. line (compared to e.g. Morten Madsen, JJ and Røndbjerg/Meyer/Blichfeldt) but certainly better than Nick Olesen, Julian and Meyer/From/Blichfeldt. I know that Hardt hasn't had a good season but still Växjö signed him at the end of the season. Where does the story/myth about Hardt comes from? I'm not sure at all that his career is over and out. Maybe on the NT, but club wise I'm not sure.
And yes, Philip Larsen is Philip Larsen no NT legend in him...

I would really love to see a new generation shine at this WC, but in the friendly games I've not seen any signs that this will happen (hopefully the events will prove me wrong ;-)) Meyer has been terrible in our zone, Nick Olesen - some good things but no goals or anything. Blichfeldt made a perfect goal, but otherwise quite invisible imo. Røndbjerg a good balance player (soccer concept - you know what I mean) but not dangerous in the attacking zone. Mathias From need I say more? I actually think that an old guy like Morten Madsen has done well, although many fans in this forum thinks he is so last year...
Bau has shown his physics and has been quite dangerous: He will be interestering to follow, but to call him a "young gun" would be erroneous.

Agreed, it's a good and necessary step to have players like Blichfeld and Røndbjerg on the team. But then again, to have guys like Mathias and Stefan Lassen over Malte Setkov seems a bit odd and counterintuitive in that regard.

I don't see the near future of this team at the tournament as bleak as @Sofaw, because in Ehlers jr. & Eller two key elements for success will be present, and if True and Russell join as well you suddenly have 3 dangerous lines instead of only 2.

Well, how could he not be better compared to that terrible last season? How many goals did he score in Karlskrona? 1? 2? 3?
Looked like a completely different player in comparison to the Morten Madsen I knew from Hamburg.

Ehlers is out and Russell probably won't join before it's too late. There is a little hope regarding True. I'm on par with you on especially one thing; Stefan Lassen. He's taking way too many penalties and quite slow.

Yes I know about his stats, but in the friendly games imo he has been more present than Meyer, Røndbjerg, Blichfeldt, From. Much more physicality and puck control from him in the offensive zone. Hopefully the young guys will dominate more at the WC I really hope.

.
In regard to Malte Setkov I think it's because he sometimes has quite decisive "black outs" - as also seen on the Malmö team during the season.

Ehlers jr. is out for the whole tournament? Yet another WHC without their best guy - that's bitter for the Danes. :(
Yeah, the good thing with True and Russell is that they are both red-hot if they join. That'd only be fair from your POV.
But as a german guy I'm naturally hoping that the Avs lose in game 7. ;)

Bakersfield Condors finally eliminated in the race for the Calder Cup - let's hope Team Danmark has paid attention, and adds speedy winger Patrick Russell to their roster soon-ish!

Lars Eller has left the Danish camp due to an injury. Huge loss that will cribble any remaining hopes of a quarterfinal.
