* would be a high risk, high reward to give a roster spot
to 18 year goalie, though he is one hell of a goalie prospect,
most likely mid 2nd round pick in this years Draft

The way he played in WJC I dont see that happening.

Heinz Ehlers is the new NT coach of Denmark.

Denmark has 4 test games before WCH 11+13+17+18 of april against Finland * 2 and Sweden *2

That'd be a good team. Just one thing - where's Hardt?
We'll see whether this 1st line will happen, but the rest, and particularly these defensive pairs look v realistic. Also, this defense would be better than last year's ,when Markus Lauridsen couldn't participate due to injury, and Philip Bruggisser was surprisingly disregarded ... now he's one of the best blueliners in the DEL, as is Jensen.

Agreed. No way that will happen in any way. He wasn't even the best Danish goalie at either last years U18 or this years U20. He might be a few years away from the NT at this point. There are several capable senior goalies at much higher levels. I would think there are some 8, perhaps 10, better Danish goalies than Søgaard at this point.

I believe these 8 are all better equiped at this point:
Andersen
Dahm
Galbraith
Sørensen
Seldrup
Nielsen
Lillie
Krog

Of course most of them will probaby be surpassed by Søgaard in the relatively near future, unless he just pulled of one hell of a fluke season in Medicine Hat. But let's see what happens. Dahm also had high praise when he was younger, but it often takes a lot of time for goalies to develop into their prime.

I think Hardt has opted out from the Danish NT for good.

The Danish team for testgames against Finland this week:

8 players added, among them Joachim Blichfeld. Will be interesting to see what he brings (if anything) Still a lot of players both in the domestic league final and in other leagues around the world in playoffs at the moment. Frans Nielsen is injured and will not participate this year.

hmm i thought bau hansen was injured.

boring to see jakobsen and poulsen on the roster, its time to move on from this below average veterans...morten madsen will probaly be named too zzz.

Bau Hansen has been injured all season, but somehow they have allowed him to participate for Denmark, despite of no games since the last WCH.

I agree with Poulsen and Jakobsen. I suspect Poulsen will be in the next tier that gets eliminated as more players becomes available. Jakobsen could become the new Morten Green, he is there because of his experience and nothing else.

The test matches against Finland has been fairly positive.
Only two minor defeats 0-1 and 1-2.

The second match apparently had this roster.
Goal: Simon Nielsen.
1: Markus Lauridsen, Jesper Aabo – Nicolai Meyer, Peter Regin, Mathias Bau
2: Phillip Bruggisser, Oliver Lauridsen – Jonas Røndbjerg, Jesper Jensen, Frederik Storm
3: Matias Lassen, Nicholas B. Jensen – Morten Poulsen, Niklas Andersen, Mathias From
4: Malte Setkov, Oliver Larsen – Søren Nielsen, Nick Olesen, Matthias Asperup

7:13 min. 1-0 Mathias [Bau] Hansen (Nikolaj Meyer, Nicholas [B.] Jensen)
22:43 min. 1-1 Oliwer Kaski (Jere Sallinen)
29:01 min. 1-2 Eemeli Suomi (Kaapo Kakko)

Sure but the Finnish team is dreadful this year and will remain so even by the time of WC unless we get very lucky with the rest of the NHL round one. So definitely not much of a measuring stick.

No matter what team Finland put up, it would be great results for Denmark.

I was surprised to read that Denmark's best hockey player Nikolaj Ehlers had opted out - and it turns out that that isn't true.
He has denied the claim which was made by WPG-journalist Ken Wiebe according to this news article from TV2 http://sport.tv2.dk/ishockey/2019-0...b9u0ZIDQYfjCPQ9nr6TLfHzmdKKdQ4j_Nux2Oud520pL0

Since game 5 of the lost PO-series vs. St.Louis Ehlers' had a leg injury. Apparently a minor, stable fracture in the leg after he blocked a slap shot from Colton Parayko, which still allowed him to play in game 6.
If he gets health clearance after a new x-rays of the injured leg in about 3 weeks, he'll join Team Denmark at the WHC.
He'll probably miss the first 1-2 matches, but it would still be great news for the Danes. :thumbu:
