Wanted to start a thread to get an idea of what every teams cap situation is looking like for next year. Info like:

- how much cap they have to work with.

- upcoming UFA’s and if they’ll attempt to sign or let walk.

- upcoming RFA’s, which ones are priority and which ones might be difficult to fit in or could be on the block.

- players with cap hits they’d like to shed.

- if the team is one of the teams speculated to have an internal budget.

Devils have 26 million in space I believe. Estimate on funds for RFAs is probably about 8-10, so 16 million remaining after that. No notable UFAs.

The Wild have 15M in space to sign Greenway, Sturm, Kunin. That probably doesn't take up much more than 8-10M.
So 5-7M left after RFAs. Soucy could be brough back for 2M or so.

Habs still have "too much" cap space this year with only Domi and Mete as notable free agents, both of which could end up traded.

But things will be tight a year from now with Danault, Tatar, Gallagher, Armia, Kotkaniemi, Petry, Allen, etc. all needing new contracts.

Flyers if i include Frost on the roster (which would be a crime if not) 73.5m 16 players on roster. Myers will get a bump in salary as RFA. Patrick as RFA screams stay healthy for a year and then Flyers will pay you. If off season is a boring off season you probably have to trade off 1-1.5m in salaries to make cap. Not perfect but far from worst.

Needs SPEED SPEED SPEED, a shoot first goal scorer (guessing about 25 teams would like to add this too)

UFA's
Elliott-stays
Pitlick-goes but if he stayed at low salary I wouldn't complain
Grant and Thompson- they get the Airplane 2 space shuttle to the sun.
Braun- just too slow for today's NHL. If you are a Kings or Devils and need a 1 year guy to let young d players develop and Braun helps breaks them in it would not be worst pickup to make.

Off season questions.
Is Ghost moved? If so who is the 5th d-man? Is he acquired by trade or free agency?
Is the 3c Patrick or Frost or does Laughton have to move there?
Can JVR be moved in a hockey trade(not dump), where a team needs JVR's 20-25 goals scored. JVR's 7m goes for say 6m in a depth rw and/or 5th/6th d-man coming back.
Is the right move to stay still or add a goal scorer. By doing nothing Lindblom will be an upgrade at 2lw and Frost an upgrade at 3c.

Hope this is a good starter. ;)

Seravalli: At least 17 NHL teams have reduced pay amid COVID-19 crunch - TSN.ca

Cap space for most teams will be irrelevant. Tons of teams won’t be close to the cap

But how do teams get there, obviously tons of UFA’s are going to go unsigned and many of them are either gonna have to take dirt cheap contracts or won’t be signed at all.
If so many teams are on internal caps it’s going to be that much harder and expensive for teams hoping, or in some cases needing to shed cap.

It seems like if you’re a GM with some space and an owner willing to spend to the cap, there’s going to be some awesome deals to be had and maybe even some good opportunities for offer sheets.

Canes have 7.78 million in cap space with 10 roster forwards, 5 roster defenders, and 2 goalies.

RFAs to re-sign: Foegele and Fleury
UFAs: TVR, Vatanen, and Edmundson (dont expect any back)

Waddell has said that the Canes will be close to the cap ceiling again.

Questions: who of anyone will be moved to improve the top 6? Will we stay pat or improve goal-tending?

After re-signing Foegele and Fluery to their expected bridge deals and adding Geekie to the roster, we will have 3-4 million in space with a 20 man roster.
