Getzlaf-Carter-Perry
Carter and Getzlaf would be skating circles around Perry - there's no way he'd be able to keep up with them. His skating has improved, but he's not even close to being on a par with Carter and Getzlaf.

If Perry makes the team, I wouldn't be surprised if it is as a powerplay specialist - he's dominant.

My line-up would like like that;

13 forwards;
Patrice Bergeron, Sidney Crosby, Jeff Carter, Nigel Dawes, Anthony Stewart, Mike Richards, Stephen Dixon, Corey Perry, Eric Fehr, Gilbert Brule, Kyle Chipchura, Ryan Getzlaf, Marc-Antoine Pouliot

7 defensemen;

Dion Phaneuf, Braydon Coburn, Cameron Barker, Brent Burns, Shawn Belle, Mike Green, Brent Seabrook

I don't have a clue about the goalies. My lines would be...

Bergeron - Crosby - Fehr
Dawes - Carter - Stewart
Richards - Pouliot - Perry
Getzlaf - Chipchura - Dixon
extra: Brule

Phaneuf - Burns
Coburn - Green
Barker - Seabrook
extra: Belle

Burns has also said he is more comfortable playing defense than forward, so I don't think they are going to put him in an uncomfortable position.

I'm pretty sure Getzlaf played with Perry at the Pacific rookie tourney earlier this season and they along with Curtis Glencross absolutely tore it up.

Justin Pogge has recorded his 5th shutout of the season ..and the second time in a row against Devan Dubnyk that he out duelled him to a shut out win...

Pogge WHL record and stats is better than Dubnyk in almost every goalie statistic

WHL Goalie Stats

Nastiuk is clearly the best dub goalie though, I'd take him over either Pogge or Dubnyk. Canada generally likes to have 19 yr old starting goalies(specially if there isn't a Quebec phenom like Fleury, while dub goalies that make the team are almost always 19), and Nastiuk has international experience winning a gold in the U18 World Championships. I don't think an 18 yr old goalie from the Dub is gonna make the team unless he is extremely impressive, although if it were to happen any year it would be this one with the lack of goalie talent in the Q.

Okay, if you were Brent Sutter whom would you pick to make Team Canada's training camp.(don't include Horton) Also, if you don't mind post whom you think is going to make the team and the lines. This is a little early but I'm far too hyped up about this tournament so I made this thread now.

You can bet your house that no-french canadian will be on his team. From the Q, I see Crosby.

Zajac isn't exactly a good extra player. He isn't strong defensivly, isn't overly physical or all that great even strength. Zajac is a good offensive center who gets most of his points on the PP. Crosby, Richards, Carter or Zajac on the PP....you get the point. Dixon would be much better as an extra. He is fast, can check, can pk and like Bob said on TSN, won't complain about ice time.

Yeah I forgot that one but he is an NHLer, that's the only reason he will be on the team.

No love for the Q ?

Dixon will be a returning player and one of Pouliot or Bernier will make the team too.

Apparently Sutter doesn't want anybody new from the Q.I would put Picard
ahead of those 2.Pouliot wouldn't be high on my list at all.

They did, if Horton is not on this team, Perry will be on the same line as Getzlaf. Even if Horton is on the team, Perry still could make and be the extra man and be used as a power play specialist. He's one of the best in the country on the PP (i've seen countless ppg and points from Perry this year and last).

So you've left off last years leading point getter (tied) Nigel Dawes?
Yes I have... I realize that... I just look at the lineup and I feel that there is so much there this year that he could be left off... It's not like he's lighting it up this year... he's playing well, but not as well as some others... this is going to be a very tough team to make for any of these guys...

I'd love to see Pogge get the chance, but I doubt he will... Not near enough hype for him... I think Dubnyk will make the team... However, to anyone saying that he'll be the starter, I'd like to bring up the suggestion another poster suggested about betting a house on it... There is no way Dubnyk starts for Canada...

In my opinion, Dubnyk is not even the 2nd best goaltender available... The only reason I think he should be on the team is that I think he is the best 18 year old goaltender available... and i'd like to have a returnee in net next year...

But they are not going to leave Dawes off.One thing you have to realize is
they didn't pick the best players available on an individual basis last year and
they won't this year.I can't see them touch that line but I guess anything is possible.

I agree it is going to be a tough team to make for everyone but to have Dawes not make the team as last years leading scorer on the most dominant line in tournament along with Stewart and Richards, who he also played with at the World Under 18 tournament on a team that won gold and where Dawes was named MVP is simply criminal....especially when you've named Perry, Bernier and Fehr (saying this I really like Fehr) who would be first timers at 19 and McGrath, Brule and Chipchura who would be utilized mostly as spare parts in a tourney like this.

Team Canada is going for gold, they aren't going to intentionally groom anyone for next year. Past experience and proven success at the international level can't be ignored and I am positive you will see the Dawes Richards Stewart line together for the third time in three years in international competition this Christmas.

Ive watched Zajac play more than 50 times probly, and i can tell you he is VERY responsible in the defencive end of the rink, and I can bet my home thats a big reason Lou traded up to get him.

I know that the chances of my lineup happening is slim... I didn't go by what I think Sutter would do... But instead by what I think should be the lineup... Personally, although he was great last year, I don't find that Dawes has done anything to impress me enough this year... Adding guys like Bernier, Brule, etc, they may only play bit parts sure... I'll be completely honest here too... I'm a big Bernier fan so that would likely be a big reason why I have him there... I don't expect Bernier or Brule or McGrath to make the team over Dawes... I'm just writing the lineup that I'd like to see... Last year we lost... Why not change some things up?

As opposed to the lineup I'd LIKE to see, this is more along the lineup that I EXPECT to see from Sutter:

Forwards:

Patrice Bergeron--------Sidney Crosby--------Corey Perry
Nigel Dawes------------Jeff Carter-----------Anthony Stewart
Mike Richards-----------Ryan Getzlaf---------Eric Fehr
Jeremy Colliton---------Kyle Chipchura-------Stephen Dixon

Forward Extras:

Alexandre Picard
Gilbert Brule
Evan McGrath

Defense:

Dion Phaneuf------------Cam Barker
Braydon Coburn----------Brent Seabrook
Shawn Belle-------------Brett Burns

Defense Extras:

Mike Green
Shea Weber

Goaltenders:

Kevin Nastiuk
Rejean Beauchemin

I still think Dixon might be in danger of dropping off this squad (as opposed to one poster's suggestion of Nigel Dawes.) This year we are much deeper and I found that Dixon didn't really stand out much at the summer camp. While most returnees are usually slam dunks to make the team I feel that Dixon has the most to prove in the training camp out of the returnees.
