Many have no concept of sport history and how for example was played in 50s and changed in 70s and again changed in 80s.Listening to the rock radio guy and he has no concept of golf and its famous players its a joke.George Knudgen was a great canadian golfer in the 60s and early 70s but many have never herd of him.I know im rambling but how do these sports talk show hosts get paid.There going on and on about violence in todays sports but it was double worse back in 70's but they seem to know nothing

imo i'd rather see pratt back with taylor and throw bmac with bro - at least then the afternoon show would be somewhat entertaining.. bmac couldn't compliment taylor any less, and that time slot needs some sort of umphh, not mundane bmac.

as for serkeres and price hanging up on people; they are by far the best show on vancouver radio so it is what it is.

Do people listen to Team 1040 because they need a sports fix, or because they actually get useful information from the station?

I don't listen to it anymore, so I am honestly just curious.

I used to have Team 1040 on in the Barn all day, but now even the horses won't listen to the morning show. They, and me too, prefer CKNW. I turn back to the Team when the morning show is over. I think Team is losing more listeners than they figured. I wonder how long before the morning show 'changes' back to sports?

How much sports coverage does NW broadcasts now during the mornings and afternoons?

Its actually unbelievable how LITTLE sports they actually talk on the morning show.

I work at 8:30. Used to listen 8:30-2 every day. I now only listen 10-2.

I have been conducting a littel experiment. I turn on the radio in the morning at different times between 8:30-10. In the last two weeks they have been talking sports twice. Usually, the talk has something to do with hookers and blow.

The only thing I can say is that if it bothers you to the point that you turned the station off is to contact "Mr. Team" and voice your concerns to him:

I'm okay with the morning show at the moment in that they have at least made an effort to make it more sports orientated than what we saw during the first week or so.

Sports fix, more specifically Canucks/Hockey fix.

The morning is now filled with random podcasts now.

NW has little sports, but at least it is mostly news, and not 'entertainment' drivol. As I typed before, at 10 am the barn radio goes back to 1040. For myself, and the horses, we prefer sports, and then news. Entertainment information is far down the list. It's too bad really that 1040 went the direction they did for their morning show. I don't think they realize that the people, who listened to FM (and Bro Jake) are most likely not at all interested in sports talk. They are now (in the morning) like a hockey team without an identity, caught in between two differing ideas. (Some would say the Canucks of the last two seasons were similarly confused by two paths.) I will be curious to see the ratings, and how long the current 1040 morning host lasts. "If my tractor ain't broke, I don't fix it."

The thing is ... the ratings weren't good enough under the Scotty & Co. branding that they decided to make the switch. Even with the previous show, they did try to add comic relief with Debron from time to time but I think the problem the regular listeners here have with the new Bro Jake Show is that his brand of "humor" is ubiquitous throughout the show. I can take it in small doses but when they try to stretch it to entire segments, I have to admit ... I turn the dial to WX1130 to catch up on the news.

So what are you listening to ? The horrible music stations ?

I listen for Canucks talk, because I am a Canucks fan.

People just love to complain. Sorry they don't have Rick Ball 24/7.

When Pratt was on in the afternoon, there was lots of movie and celeb talk and BS too

I don't ever listen to the Team 1040 actually. I just don't find I get anything useful from it that isn't summarized on here afterwards.

I usually listen to music (not on the radio) or NPR/CBC podcasts when I'm at work.

It was enough to make me switch stations.

Mark Spector quit at 1260 Edmonton because TSN bought the station. He is a free agent. Team 1260 should scoop him.

And that explains a lot. What works in Toronto doesn't necessarily work in Vancouver just as what works in Calgary doesn't necessarily work in Edmonton and Toronto centric companies just don't get it, as is the case with American companies that paint everything with a broad corporate America brush.

Edwards schtick was old when he was at Q107 in Toronto in the early 1990's. I unfortunately was living there at the time due to a temporary business transfer and even then could only take him in small doses. Back in Vancouver, it was Edwards and those two morons from CFOX's morning show that drove me away from FM radio completely.

I haven't listened to the new morning show and don't plan on it. I tuned out when Rintool and that Province guy who reviews video games were still on air. Sekeras and Price I can handle but the rest of 1040 is horrible. We need a fully independent, locally run sports station that primarily has subject matter specialists talking their sports at designated times so the educated listeners or fans can schedule their tuning in accordingly. Obviously that's not going to happen but I don't claim to be their target audience either at this point.

Apparently the plan is to have more guest appearances from the TSN panel guys like Bob Mckenzie , Darren Pang , Lebron ect. That's what they are doing in Edm so far. Oh and knobs like Duthie and Dutch made an in person appearance. I actually like James Duthie though... He's funny.

I actually prefer the afternoon show to be a bit lighter on sports. I listen in the morning and want them to break down the previous nights games. By the time the afternoon comes on, I've already broken down everything that has happened the day before. It's old news at that point. Scotty had a great show in the morning. Botch was a toolshed but him and Ferraro were must listens. Now I can't be bothered to listen in the AM.
