Goaltending excluded, I haven't seen anything close to Stevens 1994 in New Jersey. Pure dominance.
Then Elias 2001 (Elias in 2006 was probably more dominant but it was a shortened season... Definitely the most inspirational performance I have ever seen in NJ)
I think Hall's season was on par with Zach Parise 2009 personally.
Some underrated/memorable seasons: Claude Lemieux 1992 and 1993 -
Pat Verbeek 1988- Bobby Holik 1998 - Scott Niedermayer 1998 - Scott Gomez 2000 .
Respectfully disagree.
Parise's linemates this year were vastly better than what Hall had to work with. Zajac circa 08-09 was definitely better than Nico was this past season. He was more mature, better defensively, better on the cycle, and he had better chemistry IMO with ZP than Nico has with Hall. Also he had Langenbrunner who I believe almost scored 30 that year.
Yes, the Devils scored goals at a comparable rate to this year to 08-09. However, I'd be interested to see how much of that was scored in the first half. Bratt's production nearly all come in the first half. Same with Gibbons and Boyle. From about January on it was the Taylor Hall show with Palmieri and Nico sprinkled in between.
Compare that with ZP; Zajac, Langenbrunner and Elias were far more consistent than anything Hall had to work with.
Edit: and I forgot to get this in...
WOOOO WE GOT A HART TROPHY WINNER!!!!
