Still interested to see if a team decides to try this season and offers a bit more than other teams. So far it’s looking like other GMs are afraid to make an effort to win. How many more years does a team like the Pens or Caps or Bruins have? That low first and prospect aren’t going to extend that window and once their window closes they will need a while to shed contracts and rebuild. I wonder why owners are content to let their GMs put the desperate need to keep their jobs ahead of the team’s interests.

On main board I’m getting sick of Avs fans offering piles of crap . They have to realize that one of Timmins Zadorov Newhook is going to have to be included .
Keep offering Jost and other prospects I’ve never heard of.
Don't be shocked if none of them are included. Recent history has shown that rentals don't get top prospects. Also just because you haven't heard of the other prospects doesn't mean they aren't any good. Kaut and Bowers are nice pieces.

Again, Hall isn’t your run of the mill rental. Kaut and Bowers do nothing. I would rather just take a 2020 1st from a weaker team who would potentially have a pick in the low teens. You aren’t getting an elite first line player for your spare parts.

And yet on the main board you posted a GIF laughing at someone’s response to me saying I had a “reading comprehension problem” because I indicated that Avs fans keep offering packages centered around garbage like Jost and a 2nd as the most valuable pieces....

hmm

Go home. I believe you’re lost.

Newhook is ranked #2 behind Byram on our rankings list for what it's worth. He is a shooting C and he could move to the wing of Hich or Hughes and finish off plays. I'm gonna hurt if its Timmins though, but end of the day I feel we can shuffle the deck chairs and sill have a potent top 4 D core if we end up keeping Zadorov. A second line of Hall with Kadri for 2.5 years, maybe more, is exciting for me.

I would suspect Timmins is Shero’s target in all of this (assuming Byram isn’t happening, which it most likely isn’t) even with Newhook being the better prospect based on team need.

Guys, it's pretty obvious he was joking...

"Jost, 2nd, prospect you've never heard of" Third part is a dead giveaway. The 2023 6th was probably a joke too...

I agree with those a few pages back that were saying Arizona could not and should not go toe-to-toe with Colorado in a purely futures package.

Raanta really is the wildcard in this. For my money there aren’t a whole lot more than a half-dozen goalies in the world better than him. He’s got injury issues, though. No denying that. So he’s a risk.

I noticed New Jersey has given up over 40 goals in their last 10 games. Raanta alone would immediately and significantly improve this problem. So in my mind, it all comes down to how much pressure Shero is feeling to get this team back into games and competing again.

If he’s feeling a lot of pressure I could see a lot of interest in Raanta. If he’s feeling fully confident that he’s got a ton of rope left and he’ll be allowed to shepherd the team through rebuild v1.5 - then he’s probably not going to be as tempted by what Raanta immediately provides his team.

I honestly think the kind of package you see Hall return is going to be a direct reflection of Shero’s level of comfort. If Raanta is a Devil this season, it means Shero is uncomfortable.

You’re absolutely right... for Simmonds, they’re perfectly fine.

If you think you’re landing Taylor Hall for your #4, 5 & 6 prospect... then you’re not getting Taylor Hall.

Sound opinion. I would tend to agree.

I think this makes some sense. But we're also 3rd last in goals for so far this season and would be giving up the guy leading us in points. So even if Shero feels confident in righting the ship this season, trading Hall in a Raanta package would just, hypothetically, fill one hole only to create another massive one. Would he then need to go out and acquire another elite forward if he feels like he needs to immediately improve the team? Probably. I don't think he would or even could with the assets we have. If Shero really is feeling the pressure to make moves then I'd think he'd try to do something else to improve to team while keeping Hall.

It's also no secret that every other goalie besides Blackwood has been ECHL caliber. Blackwood has had some real rough nights, but for the most part he's okay. And he's still young. I think it's more likely, and definitely wiser, to seek out a competent backup to help shoulder some games off of Blackwood and hope the kid continues to progress/that he can eventually be a solid starter.

There's so much that's fundamentally wrong with this team. Even getting Raanta wouldn't solve things, even if we assumed someone was able to step up and start to provide more offense which won't happen. The defense is in shambles and a better goalie can't cover all the mistakes they make.

Shero needs to get at least a 1st and a Dman prospect where you can squint and hope they will be a top 4 dman at some point. Something like a 1st and a guy like Timmins/Bean/Vaakanainen. Anything less will be a major disappointment.

That’s absolutely absurd

Your viewpoint on Nico is just as absurd.

Basically we drafted Zajac 2.0 with our 1OA

That was pathetic. :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Once more, I'm very glad you are not the GM if that's what you think Nico is.

What a crap-show to call him Zajac 2.0 (have you no shame?) :thumbd:

As @NjDevsRR said : Nico has tremendous defensive abilities and has had 14 pts in the last 18 games on our crappy offensive team. He has basically BEEN our offense in the last 18 games.

Zajac 2.0, my ass. :whatever:

Pretty much this. But in any negotiation, you need to shoot for the stars(so to speak) and from there, negotiate it down to something that is the most palatable to both teams.

In Shero I trust here to get the job done with Hall.

One way or the other.:nod::nod:
