The good news is there aren't enough Yotes fans to wear Matthews jerseys at the Scotiabank Centre in 5 years.

When Matthews is a UFA at age 26 in 5+ years Leaf Nation might get first hand experience of this situation.

if in 5 years the leafs
don't have an arena
changed to a GM he has zero connection to
changed to a coach he has zero connection to
ownership putting all of the decision making on him
hasn't made the playoffs 5+ straight years
the team gets rid off everyone and anyone that wants money and can potential help the team make strides forward to make/go far

then no. Leafs Nation won't have first hand experience of the situation

we've sucked and we've had talent leave. it happens. get over it.

What a sad fanbase.

I feel bad for them that this is all they care about when their team is leading the division.

Legit it seems that they are getting the majority of their pleasure not about being in first place or even potentially making the playoffs but being "better" than Toronto. Truely little man syndrome going on.

I maintain that if JT had gone to Tampa or the Sharks or wherever this would not even be an issue. The reason they are so worked up is because they dealt with Leaf fans saying he was going home for a long time and up until the final moment laughed at the idea of him going home. When he actually did it and they were wrong this whole time, that's what set them off.

yeah could you imagine the ****storm it would cause especially if it was a last minute scratch

It would be worth watching just to see their anger boil.

Which is a mystery to begin with. Tavares never even wanted to play for NYI to begin with. He was always ours. We are a museum that loaned our prized painting to them for a few years. We get back our Mona Lisa and they act like they ever had a right to keep our painting. Talk about being ungrateful.

Actually its going to be quite an emotional reunions for a lot of the folks:

Kadri-Komarov
Marner-Martin
Lou-Dubas/Shanny/Babs
Tavares-IslesTeam/and/fanbase

The rest have already played each other and reconnected.

This is simply a bunch of fans, angry at tavares.

But hey the chants they are storming up are going to change the fact Tavares is a Maple Leaf:)

Kinda wish the leafs would do the ultimate troll job and give him a maintenance day have him wave from the press box. It would be such a distraction lol

Awesome idea.
Have Tavares do the troll job of the century...flanked by Mounties, wearing Leafs pajamas, have Tavares watch and cheer against the Isles. Show him cheering after each of the 6 goals we score, including the empty netter in a 6-4 win.

Watch the town burn.

If the shoe was on the other foot someday, I just hope Leaf Nation is able to put on such a brave face if a franchise centre walks away as a UFA that they took #1OA and invested so much in.

I find it amazing that NYI's lose their franchise C and Leafs add their franchise C (free of asset loss) and the 2 teams are tied in the standings with 76 points.

A non playoff team loses their best player and improves and the team that adds him in our Leafs needs his addition to keep pace with the former non playoff team.

They should thank JT, he’s probably the only reason they will have a sellout that night:laugh:

Islanders have sold out almost every game (3 games just short of sellout) since returning to Nassau.

I thought you were a Leafs fan?

They sit over there trashing everything Leafs/Toronto/Canada, went after JT's wife, have threatened violence against Leafs fans all because Tavares signed here as a free agent and you are defending that nonsense by calling it a "brave face"?

That's not something worth praising - it's quite pathetic. The arena holds 13,000, for a fan base clamoring for the return of its team, tickets should be next to impossible. This notwithstanding that they are a first place club.
