Tavares was awesome tonight, he was on another level of any player on the ice. He's been quite good on the PK ever since he was put on it.

2 more goals tonight, he's streaking in the goal scoring department these days.

Given tonight's opponent, that's really not saying much.

If not for a few key saves by Lehtonen, this would've been a blowout.

Still, I'm stunned that he never scored a shorthanded goal before this one.

He's never killed penalties until this year. Also, the isles line up is nothing brag about. They're also missing Hamonic Boychuck Ladd and Clutterbuck.

This is the first time he's ever been on the PK in his career. He's had quite a few chances and finally got a shortie.

Lehtonen was excellent, should have been a blowout as you said. Dallas has quite a few stars, they looked ordinary. Expected more from them.

It's been a gong show pretty much all season in Dallas..... we're just waiting for that proverbial "last straw" before the GM finally does something to show that he's actually been paying attention.

Maybe tonight was that game. Fingers crossed.

Could say the same for the isles. At least you have more than 1 star/elite player.

Oooooh okay, would still take Benn and Seguin over Tavares. Tavares looked good last night. Mind you he had done nothing whatsoever the last 6 times he faced Dallas.

Islanders announcers said opponents haven't scored a PP goal with JT on the ice and he's been a PK regular for at least a month now. Lol st people who think he can't play defense

All I'm saying was that last night JT looked better than anyone in a Stars uni.

Not exactly damning words after a 3-0 loss.

Do many people think he will finish his career in Long Island? It seems like they are not much further in the rebuild than they were when he was drafted. Would hate to see his career stuck in limbo during his prime years.

Lotta first for Tavares coming up in the next years. First short-handed goal, first time as a member of a hockey team that isnt the Islanders, etc

Exciting times for him

The Islanders had 61 points and a goal differential of -78 the year he was drafted. They also had perhaps the worst prospect pool in the league at the time.

Despite the down year, they are still drastically improved from when he came on board.
