I'm pretty surprised to see so much interest in him beyond the "1-year, tradable asset" angle. Anything more than that is a hard no from me. I don't see the point. I'm not really interested at all, but I guess I could stomach a 1-year deal. 2? 3? Ya'll are crazy. Don't be distracted by that career year he had two seasons ago. It's decline time now.

Last 3 seasons, at 198 games Tatar has produced 57+92 = 145 points (0.75 points per game)

That's pretty much first liner for us and for many other teams. Better than Vrana. Slightly behind Larkin. Better than Palat/Killorn at Tampa etc. He would be 4th best producer vs. Tampa forwards.

He is 30, and making a 3-year deal is a decent asset, tradeable afterwards again, for futures, if we have a losing season.

Eh...Tatar is not an LA or Calgary style player. The doghouse in Calgary would become his permanent residence. He'd add a nespresso coffee maker in there and everything.

Don't know if you noticed that LA are signing more players in his size and category.
Calgary is also shifting to a degree.

He would have no problem fitting in both places if he finds chemistry.
Tatar is very much so a chemistry-player. Either he gels or he dries out his welcome.

Calgary?

I thought Suter liked big, slow, hard hitting guys.
Doubt the old man changed.
Literally the opposite of what Tatar is.

Tatar was one of my favorite players here.
He's another p/60 hero.

His 2.47 points/60 over the last three years is 19th in the NHL.

Does that mean I want him in Detroit?
Nah. We already wasted a spot on f***ing Gagner and now we've got Suter, too.

I'd rather him Tatar than Neilsen.

A two-year deal at $4.5M per season I would be more than fine with.

But initially, I think he can end up in LA or Calgary. Possibly the Rangers.
Depends a little on the Eichel sweepstakes which I can't see be solved until after his surgery.

So term and money correct, but Devils signed him.
Could fit well there.
