And Johansen manhandled Toews, Kane, Tarasenko and Getzlaf and Perry with Ekholm and Subban before getting injured on a freak play. Talking about our center depth is strange to bring up and is borderline off topic, we're looking for wingers this year and maybe a 3rd pairing defenseman, so I don't really know what Needle's going on about.

I still haven’t got a reply on what team besides Anaheim won the cup without an elite center.

They may be average number 1 centers, but average number 1 centers don’t hoist Lord Stanley.

Pretty sure NJD won 3 Cups, and who were there elite #1 centers? In 95, 35 year old Neal Broten and Bobby Holik were their top 2 centers. If you want to say you don't win without elite talent fine, but you can win with less than elite at certain positions, as NJD proved, even as boring as they were to watch!

Tbh I completely forgot about the Devils winning cups.

You may have a point, although Arnott was pretty good on the later ones.

Obviously Nashville can’t compete with their defense, and especially goaltending though.

Just keep moving the goal posts to prove your point...we get it, you don't think Nashville is a cup team. Can we perhaps discuss the thread topic?

I have no idea why Nashville fans think Aberg has any value... we can get that out of the way.

After watching Tatar tonight I think he would be fine on our 3rd line but I am not sure its worth what you guys are asking, or the cap space we would give up.

I would need at least one of the following: 1st round pick/Fiala/Fabbro.

I don't think a deal is going to get done here. We aren't/shouldn't give Tatar away for something like Aberg and a 2nd. Tatar is a consistent 20+ goal scorer entering the prime of his career. No way we get Fabbro or Fiala, so unless Nashville is willing to give us a first (plus a b-list prospect) than I'm not interested.

I think youre expecting too much. I think a first is probably best case, Tatar hasnt been amazing this season. Losing Tatar also helps the wings tank the rest of the season. I wouldnt give him away for nothing, but a second plus a good prospect is not horrible.. I wouldnt absolutely love it but I would be okay with it. Fiala is already better than Tatar so I dont know why youre even mentioning him.

A young Bergeron and Krejci definitely werent elite guys in 2011

1st and a B prospect is possible, but that ain't Fiala or Fabbro lol.

Generally I would say a 2nd and a 75-125 prospect. Not sure Nashville has anyone in that range of prospect so they'd have to go with a 1st and a player such as Mismash. Tatar has term and he's not old. I do think if the Wings best option is something like Trenin and around the 28th pick, they would do it. But only if they're dead set on trading him. Personally, I wouldnt do it, but to be fair I'm not a Tenin fan. I just think they'd end up with a better return at some point in the near future if they dont feel they have to move him.

That same Bergeron made the 2010 Canadian Olympic team.

Do you ever see Kyle Turris making an absolutely stacked team like that?

Yeah a lot of people questioned him making it. He was there because he had played with that group of guys and played well with Crosby at the World Juniors. He was taken as very much a role player/face off specialist and that was it, I think Turris is better than Brendan Morrow was in 2010. I think Johansen and Turris is definitely comparable/very close to what the Bruins had in 2011 for sure

Johansson was good but certainly didn't manhandle Getzlaf in any way. Preds won that series because of phenomenal goaltending first and foremost, then phenomenal d, followed by guys like Johansen. he is a low tier 1c similar to Turris but with the rest of that team you guys are gonna be super tough in the playoffs. Probably my favorite.

1st+Watson for Tatar (to replace Helm when we ship his ass off)

I think a lot of people in Nashville like Watson. I would like him in Detroit because of his style of play, but I dont think youre getting a first plus Watson. Watson isnt a throw in with a bad contract hes a tough, PKing energy guy. Nashville will want him for the Western playoffs

Yeah the goal here is to add to the team. Watson isn't going to get a ton of points but he plays a very gritty style, plays on the PK, and just brings a general energy to the ice.

Probably the only guys on the roster I think most would be ok with letting go are Aberg, Salomaki, and Hartnell on the forward side, and I doubt anyone wants any of them.

Then we arent moving him to Nashville.

This isn't Holland's mentality. That's not how good negotiations work. You need to put forth a reasonable offer. That would be like someone offering us a career 2nd line, inconsistent sniper, for a D prospect who is considerably better than Hronek. Not happening. If Holland says "give us Fabbro or there is no deal to be made" that is a terrible way to approach a possible trade that could make sense.
