He needs to go, what'd you offer for him? We'd be looking to get back a middle six forward or maybe a decent prospect + a pick.

Pardon my ignorance but what is the issue with Pearson? For his production (don't watch many Kings games so basically just stat watching) his contract seems fair and the Kings don't seem to have a long list of young guys pushing for his roster spot.

It doesn't need to be Pearson he's just an easy target with the Kings start. A core roster player from Carter to Clifford needs to he moved the shake these guys up. So Toffoli, Lewis, Thompson, Phaneuf, Muzzin, Martinez of these guys someone needs to go. And build around this roster.

    Brown-Kopitar-Kovalchuk
    XXX-Kempe-Toffoli(if not traded)

Thanks, I was wondering if there was an issue specific to Pearson. As a Canuck fan I totally understand the "we need to make a move" feeling.

    Pearson for Saad + prospect?

    Yes, I know Saad’s situation.

Depends on the prospect I guess. Because a 6 million dollar 4th liner (at the moment) is the last thing the Kings need.

It would be tough the fit Saad in with the cap situation.

    Unless you'd also take Lewis/Thompson.

I don't see the point in moving Pearson right now. His value at the moment is the lowest it's been and he's got the skills to turn it around. I'm all for trading just about anyone on the roster - hell I'm down for another rebuild but Blake has to move his assets at the right time.

Wasn't that long ago that was the consensus on Brown.

By whom? Kings fans really didnt like that Brown wasn't scoring but the guy is a hockey player. If he's not scoring he's still super useful. If Saad isnt scoring what good is he?

Why was he drafted at 20 ( Two months off) & not age 18? Weird.

I agree, and part of the reason why the team is in the state that is is that this hasn't been done, IMO. I believe that they should've capitalized on their Cup wins by trading a few players when teams still coveted them and wanted to emulate LA's heavy style. I don't mean trading any of the core players. I mean that various supplemental players like Muzzin, Clifford and Pearson should've been made available to teams willing to overpay for Cup winners. Instead, after the second Cup, the organization wanted to keep the gang all together, not recognizing that turnover after the first Cup helped win the second, and wasted many players' trade values. Now, their tradeable players are 4 years removed from a Cup, 4 years older and associated with a team that's regarded as mediocre and a dinosaur in the new, faster NHL. Of course, this is easy to say in hindsight, but I was arguing for trading select players like Muzzin and Clifford years ago.

I've always been intrigued by Muzzin and Martinez. With Doughty, and the other D I have seen come through LA, they seemed to be lost in the shuffle as top four guys when L.A.'s top players are mentioned. And does Martinez play strictly right, or as a lefty is he just kind of pushed to that side?

Is Carter available to play wing still? Injuries from the Florida game show how easily our center depth can be shattered (I love Gaudette by the way, but he and Granlund aren't in the same conversation as Pettersson and Beagle at their respective roles).

What would the asking price be on Carter and one of the two D?

I dunno FL well enough to know if this is too much, but with that price, they'd probably want a Huberdeau

He didn't make the OHL during his original draft year and didn't have a breakout season until later. Not unusual to see a handful of 20 year old North Americans and 21 year old Europeans get drafted; Not everybody hits their stride by 18. Pearson was just interesting in that he went in the first round.

Handful of guys go undrafted in their original year and might go in the first the following year. Trevor Lewis, David Perron, and Henrik Borgstrom off the top of my head. Mikko Koskinen went undrafted three times and went #31 in 2009.

    I think he'd get a 2nd round pick back.

I too don't know Florida's needs that well, but I would gather their fan base might not like that idea. Kid's legit. I'm actually asking as a Canucks fan. I mean Horvat, Pettersson and Boeser are off limits, but I was more kicking tires. We can't afford a top prospect or top young player out of Vancouver, I was hoping it was more of a fire sale/wake up call situation for one or two key pieces to be moved.

Always wanted him as a Jet since he played with Scheif before they were drafted.
