I guess no team was interested in giving anything up for him. I do think it's possible, though not very likely, that a team will pick him up, as his actual salary is lower this year and next year than it was in the first year. However, we will end up saving almost a million in cap space in the end, which will be very good.

It seems like a real possibility. If they don't think he's going to be claimed then it's a pretty easy decision to send him down, save the cap space for later in the year, and call him back if he's ever "necessary".

When a player clears waivers and is sent down and then is called up again, he does not have to clear waivers to be sent down again unless he has played ten games or has been "up" for 30 days. As far as I know, that 30-day window also applies to the scenario where the player isn't demoted

I think that's wrong. The max amount that can be buried is the league minimum + 350k. The league minimum for 2015-16 is 575k, which would mean we can bury 925k. That leaves 525k as a cap hit
