I'll add that I wouldn't be against Rod giving a little more leash to our skill guys to play a more east west game to see if we can spark more offense. TT, Aho, Jarvis, Necas can all run and gun and should be great at zone entries.

Leaving the mucking about to Staal, Marty, Fast, Stepan, etc. I think those guys also need to hit a little more in the playoffs to wear down opposing d.

I also think the pp coach should be on a hot seat. It's a challenge to know when to stick with things and the chemistry will click vs knowing some things just won't happen.

Are we a victim of our own recent regular season success, thus guaranteeing that we have no shot at nabbing that truly generational talent that would put us over the top?
No. We are the victim of math, which dictates that only one team can win a championship every year. And lest we forget, the championship we did win was largely because all of the math was on our side that year.

What is it with these boards? In my real life, I’m a pretty optimistic guy, glass half full stuff. Get on this board, and suddenly I’m talking about how overrated Jarvis is, Staal is slow, Marty isnt good enough to sharpen skates for the first line, etc., etc., etc. Hell, I even dump on TiVo, and he’s my favorite player!

it’s not just us, go look at the other teams boards. no kidding, I went on the Bruins’ board, and the third post I looked at had this,

’They are cooked. At this point, I would consider making the ECF a shocking success. They will be eliminated in the second round.’

that was the Bruins board!

The Carolina Hurricanes are an excellent hockey team, they will probably finish with the second best record in the league. that said, they will probably be closer in points to the WC2 team than the Bruins, but as we’ve learned above, the Bruins are doomed.

The playoffs are a series of breaks and how teams respond to them. Quite often entire series are determine by one bad call, a post hit on an open net, or a fragile goaltender. Only one of the sixteen playoff teams gets all the breaks they need to lift the cup. The chances of the Hurricanes being that team aren’t great, but they are no worse than anyone else. They’ve put themselves in a position where they have the ability to shut anyone down, but also look bad against awful teams.

all I’m trying to say is that we have no idea what will happen in these playoffs, they are like riding a roller coaster in the dark with no track. Just hold on tight, and try to enjoy the ride.

That's the key for me. The playoffs are fun and intense, but I enjoy regular season hockey, especially with a 100+ point team. This has been a really fun season, and if we go deep in the playoffs, that's icing on the cake. But night after night the guys have delivered a game on the ice that's more than worth watching. For months upon months we've been treated to dominant defensive efforts, dominant offensive efforts, cardiac comebacks.

It's a fun ride. Don't stress about the randomness of the playoffs. It'll be what it'll be. Enjoy the now, because the now is the best it's ever been for this franchise.

No I disagree, man. There's never been a blueprint for the dictatorship of the proletariat, so there's bound to be mistakes. However, study history; you'll see that since the rise of the nation state, socialism has been historical inevitability, dude.

If the pairings end up, Boston/Pittsburgh and Rangers/Devils, we won't have to worry about too much attention as the afterthoughts with the Isles. I heard a media guy talking about how the networks involved have their fingers crossed that this "dream" lineup comes to fruition.

One wonders about Cuba, as en experiment, had it not been met with a pretty thorough economic blockade.

North Korea doesn't seem promising though. It's possible the dictatorship of the proletariat is failing? Sheesh, I thought it's the only thing that could save the Arizona Coyotes from their owner.

And now, having promptly/nightly missed the game, and only getting ready for the DTMTS, I can't tell from this GDT which way the game ended. grumble grumble you guys

Starts 39 lashes from JC Superstar
I'm okay with a countdown from 39 to a modest amount. But videotape will be necessary.
