This would be a less surprising turn of events for hfboards if this place would tone down the massive overrating of Hedman and Kucherov. But hey, here we are with Kucherov the best Russian in the league and Hedman the top 3 Defenseman :laugh:

Kucherov is not overrated. He has played dominant hockey to start the year and has carried on from last year. Not to mention he's lethal in the playoffs. Hedman is the same. Tampa misses Stralman and everyone else is really pedestrian at this point.

John Cooper also sucks.

They are playing awful.. uninterested, lazy, maybe thinking that talent will win it for them. They will turn it around though. Next game is at home vs PIT, gonna be interesting. They surely are gonna be pumped for that one, making a possible statement.

What the hell is going on with them? They are not even in the playoffs at the moment. They are supposed to be Cup contenders. :shakehead

The problem is that don't play the islanders ever day... apparently it's the only them they can beat.

Remember when all the Tampa fans right before UFA said Stamkos was the 5th or 6th most important member of the Lightning?

Because he was? He did a complete 180 turnaround this season before the knee injury. If you would've watched Stamkos last year and this year you would know this. The difference was like night and day.

They were all being extremely shorted sighted and full of $h!t.

Naw. He has surprised us up until his new injury, but he really was a shell of his pre injury self and considering we rode the triplets into the cup finals we prioritized them. Nobody ever said Stamkos wasn't good

Oh buddy, you must not have been in the Lightning GDTs very much. Did you know Ryan Callahan couldn't put up numbers because he played with the "black hole of offense" known as Steven Stamkos? True story.

Come on mate, you were there too, we crapped on Callahan more than Stamkos and we never said he was not good, we said he was not worth what we thought he was going to get paid (+10 M.$).

This season he was phenomenal, until...

It is weird. That team has to much talent to be this bad.

Must be the coach then lol. Just like how Pittsurgh got rid of Mike Johnston halfway through the season last year and they turned it around after he was gone.

This is what happens when you have the same team for 3 years and they're mentally checked out until the playoffs start because there's otherwise no pressure or expectations otherwise throughout the season. The team is lazy as hell, prone to slumps and feels sorry for itself after a while. I'm becoming startled by these developments because adversity is nothing new for this Lightning team and it always brought out the best in us. Sadly we've had adversity and have not made such a response and I fear it's because we've become conditioned to a "don't worry we've got this" mentality because of how well we had done previously in the absence of Stamkos and Stralman.

We've known this dark truths for years now and it's not going to change any time soon. It's a very... VERY good team. But it's like a prodigy going through a mental block who is in need of "inspiration." But sadly the "inspiration" (i.e trades) likely has to wait. We're pretty much stuck with this outfit due to salary constraints until we get the rest of the core re-signed (i.e Johnson, Drouin, Palat etc) and after that we may see some moves.

We have a heck of job ahead of us to even keep the bulk of this team together and once we clear that hurdle we can do whatever we want with it. The addition of guys like Adam Wilcox, Dom Masin and Nikita Gusev are not that far away and it might be the swift kick in the rear this team needs to get over itself.
