Hockey’s newest statistics, otherwise known as hockey analytics have come a long way since their inception in the mid-2000’s, and they are ever growing. Part of that growth involves moving from the Twittersphere into the corporate sphere. With statistics companies on the rise, recently hired Matt Cane gives us the inside scoop on life in professional analytics. We also touch on his work on special teams, weighted shots, and rebounds.

Matt has quietly been gaining notoriety in hockey’s statistics community. The work he’s put out on his blog, and at Hockey-Graphs is excellent, and unlike anything we currently have in the Twittersphere. Matt has recently joined the fine analysts at Winner’s View, where the video content they put out is both entertaining, and informative. You can follow him on Twitter @Cane_Matt
