He has 10 points (7G/3A) in 3 games in the AHL for the Marlies. I haven't heard anyone talk about him. I know its only 3 games, but could he be called up anytime soon?

My guess would be that the Paul Ranger experiment is very close to being over and we will see Brennan soon.

He's an awesome AHL offensive defenseman, but his game has way too many holes to be in the NHL, as proven by Buffalo and Florida. Not really much of a prospect at this point anyways.

If you can afford to give him extremely sheltered even-strength minutes, he might be worth giving a shot to juice the the PP. His defensive game never really developed to where I had hoped it would. He's one of these guys who's tantalizing at the AHL level but might not be able to quite make it in the big leagues -- like defensive version of Mark Mancari. Still, he seems like a good guy, so I hope he can make it. His shot is great.

Yeah Ranger is looking like Kostka 2.0 right now.
I'd like to see Brennan rewarded but we really need a defensive specialist right now

It Marc-Andre Bergeron can put together a 500-game career on the strength of his slapshot, despite his extreme defensive shortcomings, I hope Brennan can too. Maybe it won't be with the Leafs, though.

if another d-man goes down (seems like we're losing guys every night) before Fraser is good to go i'd bet he'll be the guy who gets first crack. two hat tricks in three games is impressive for a d-man regardless what league.

Takes defensemen longer to develop. His defense is much better then it was a couple of years ago. What else does a guy have to do to get a shot? Top guy on Leafs on d has a couple of points? You need production from your D to take pressure off the forwards/centers.

I doubt it will be. Bergeron was brought in as a specialist for teams lacking that element, the Leafs aren't, so no need for a one-dimensional specialist.

I haven't actually seen Brennan play though, so I don't know how one-dimensional he is.

You guys obviously haven't been watching the games very close. Ranger has been one of the more reliable dmen the last few games.

I don't think its fair to say Ranger is Kostka 2.0, but I agree that he needs to do more out there...would like to see Brennan up... very heavy shot from the back end!

despite what a few people in this thread believe.. the Leafs problem isn't offense.

This.

We don't struggle on the PP or scoring goals.. If we could learn how to keep the puck out of our net, we'd be better off.

When's Fraser coming back?

Exactly. If anything, Gunnars hasn't been the premier defensive defenceman that he's supposed to be. I can't really knock him, though seeing that he is a terrible fit with Phaneuf and the top pairing.

Brennan won't be brought up until an injury happens, because he's behind better offensive defensemen on the depth chart.

Yeah the Ranger bashing is getting real old. Its as if some can't function during a Leafs game without having a designated heel.

Scored again tonight. 12 points in 5 games, 2 hat-tricks.

I wouldn't be so quick to point out the holes in his game, considering he played for one of the worst teams in the NHL last year (Panthers). Before that it doesn't seem like he was given much opportunity in Buffalo, and again...another under productive team overall.

Although there might not be much we can do to bring him up at this point, if he continues to play at 50% of the level he is now...he should be given an opportunity on the big team. He was the first guy to pounce on John Scott in pre-season and he could offer more than just an offensive defensive role on our back end.

If he is going to stay in the AHL I would move him to wing. Guy has a cannon and some tricky moves.

if toronto can't use him on d, i am sure they can get something decent for him or combine with someone else. To many teams hurting for scoring and PP guys that he can't help someone from the blue line
