Personally Walker is still one of my favorite prospects. His point totals don’t jump off the page but he did lead his team in scoring and as far the eye test goes he is really impressive and always the fastest guy on the ice.

He isn’t going to be Brayden Point or anything but there is still a lot of potential there.

A 2 week quarantine means Fortier could play in the October 2nd home opener for Moncton.

Still no word on if Maxim Cajkovic will be able to travel back to Canada to play for Val-d'Or.

From August 18th:
google translate: Details are awaited regarding the arrival of Maxim Cajkovic and Alexander Mirzabalaev. Both are on the invitation list, but all European players on the tour are currently on hold considering the current circumstances.
August 31st:
google translated: Concerning its European players, the Valdorian organization, like most of the other teams in the Canadian Hockey League, was in the midst of mystery at the time of this writing, since these athletes still could not leave their country to enter Canada in due to the border closures linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. As a reminder, the Foreurs are banking on Slovakian right-winger Maxim Cajkovic, acquired from Saint John this summer, and Russian left-winger Alexander Mirzabalaev returning as Europeans for the next campaign.

Quinn Schmiemann's season in the WHL, unlike the QMJHL, will not start until Dec. 4th.

Those 3 are our only CHL prospects for the time being. The NHL draft is October 6th & 7th.

i'd love to get another look at Fortier. Do we know where players are assigned yet? I'm not sure what's up with the AHL and who's going to start the year in Syracuse.

Way too early. The player dumps don't happen until camp. You can lightly pencil guys in right now, but that will change with the draft and free agency.

Looking at the EIHL, who canceled their season for who the Crunch/OSB might want to check a look, as they've got some North Americans who are pretty young still:
Liam Morgan - age 22
Dylan Malmquist - age 24
Tanner Eberle - age 26

Morgan could probably fit pretty well on OSB's RW3

Eberle notched 20 with the Jacksonville Icemen, which is about as much as you can hope for in the ECHL.

I'm on a d-man kick. What type of parameters should I be looking for in a Crunch signing? I know the Orlando end pretty well (need RD), but what does Syracuse really need for an AHL/ECHL signing?

My methodology is to find young two-way defensemen with offensive ability and some inches who can put up points in the ECHL. We know that as guys climb the ladder, the offense may dry up, but a defensive defenseman is defensive forever. A two-way ECHL guy could also potentially survive in the AHL as a PP specialist if that's how the stars align.

I'm liking Jack Sadek as a RD and Justin Baudry as LD. Both appear to be free agents after their AHL deals expired.

LD Miles Liberati I'm not sure about. He just turned 25, but had a breakout year offensively for Tulsa in his fourth ECHL season. Maybe he could be an AHL PP specialist, but I don't think that there's a lot of meat still on the bone developmentally. Tulsa also still has his ECHL rights, which would add a wrinkle to an Orlando assignment.

google translated:
Fortier landed in New Brunswick in the last few days and is currently in administrative segregation under the health protocol of the QMJHL and the health rules of the province.

"We are convinced this is the right decision for me," said in a telephone interview with Journal Fortier, who discussed the issue with his agent and the leaders of the Florida club. My last game was in mid-March, and not playing for nine months wouldn't have been a good fit for my development. I just want to play hockey again. "
Fortier and his clan have, however, advised the Wildcats of the possibility of the player leaving their ranks in the middle of the season. This will not prevent the former captain of the Drakkar from taking his role as a veteran to heart in a changing room since the last official game.

“I spoke to Daniel Lacroix [head coach] and Ritchie Thibault [general manager]. They know that I am going back with them to develop myself and to help the team, and at the same time, they understand my situation. They’re just happy to have me, ”said the Lachine resident, who is keeping a close eye on the Lightning playoffs.

“The job of older people is to lead by example and I won't be there just to focus on me. I’m part of a team and I want to help guys develop and become better. "

Right now the plan is for Fortier to start the season in Moncton and hopefully switch over to Syracuse if/when the AHL starts up in December.

31 Thoughts: Is Matt Dumba next up on the Wild trade block? - Sportsnet.ca
In one of his local interviews, Zito talked about creating the “value sheet” the Blue Jackets did in Columbus. What is that?
“Years ago, we sat with the leadership group and said, ‘What do we stand for? What are we all about?’ Blue Jackets’ values. It was something the players were proud of. Credit to (captain) Nick Foligno and the leadership group, because it did become what we were about. I look forward to doing it here. What is it we’re about, what do we want to be, what’s important to us?”

I like this, especially for the minor league affiliates, but do it every year. Forget about what JBB or Cooper wants. If you're in Syracuse or Orlando, what do we want? You can't have one single culture through three different cities.

OSB also tends to be a slow starter, so anything to get them out of that habit.

Due to the travel restrictions, Cajkovic will start the season with his home town in Bratislava, but it appears the plan is for him to eventually return and play in the QMJHL when possible.

It looks like something is happening.

You don't dump hockey sweaters for basically nothing if a change isn't coming. (code orange)

Btw, please buy. I don't want to see these jerseys in the Orlando market, but if they're absorbed into the life stream of the Earth, they might go unnoticed.

How'd he do with other players on the ice?
Correction, he has played 2 games. I checked first at Eliteprospects, but the VHL website itself has up to date info.

Supreme Hockey League - Players : Shalagin Mikhail

He has played 2 games, 1 even strength goal on 1 shot on goal. He played 15 minutes in game 1 and about 13 1/2 in game 2.
Still he should be getting a look in the KHL. Isn't Groshev 18 playing in the KHL?
I could be wrong, but the way I've always viewed the VHL is like it's Triple A minor league baseball. It's made up of more professional players than amateurs, MLB depth guys, and other not so heralded prospects who are working their way up the ranks, but the majority of your top prospects will probably pass it by and make the jump from Double A. So top prospects like Amirov and Mukhamadullin played in the KHL in 2019-2020 as teenagers, while a guy like Shalagin takes the long road. While the MHL is viewed as a good junior level league and the KHL as a good professional league, I'm not sure what talent exists in between with the VHL. Or maybe there's a political part to valuable prospects ascending to the KHL quickly? Or as FP said, he's just not ready for the KHL yet. When he came over here, he was always looked at as a project prospect.

Groshev has a good toolkit to play in the bottom 6 of a KHL team. Shalagin isn’t getting to the KHL unless he can play in the top 6 and put up a lot of points.
