I'd say currently:

Nylander < Aho
Pettersson >= Barkov
Zib = Rantanen

Hedman > Heiskanen
Karlsson > Vatanen

Still Sweden but Finland is probably closer as we speak than they've ever been

Are you forgetting mid eighties? Finland didn't have a great center, but I'm sure Kurri would have been just fine playing C too.

The defence goes to Sweden...but overall? I kinda like that Finnish top line better. May change in a year or two...but the Finnish trio up front have established themselves far more than the Swedish group.

Hm... let me see

Kent Nilsson >> Christian Ruuttu
Mats Näslund = Esa Tikkanen
Håkan Loob =< Jari Kurri
Börje Salming >> Teppo Numinen
Tomas Jonsson >> Timu Jutila

Na they're definitely closer now

Finlands forwards are way better, there has to be a better option than Nylander. Forsberg, Lindholm and Backstrom are way better players.

Swedens d core is way better.

I actually fail to see how thats the case. Nylander had a better year than Forsberg/Lindholm. Backstrom could go either way, but he is a C rather than a RW. Nylander would be a much better fit next to Pettersson IMO as a goal scorer.

Actually Forsberg is on decline. Nylander is on the rise

I wouldnt say "decline" is the word, but his best years might be behind him. He hasnt played a full season since 2016-17 and his PPG has dropped over the past 3 years.

I definitely take Nylander going forward, but given they are only 2 years apart I wouldnt say he is declining.

You took Finland's second and third line. Ruotsalainen, Siltanen, Skriko, Sinisalo, Kurri would be my first line. By point production they were much better than Sweden.

Nylander also had a better season than Pettersson scoring more Goals. He is also way stronger.

Lol, Pettersson is quite a bit better than Nylander, who is clearly the worst player in this bunch.
Yeah sure. How many goals did he score this season. His entire NHL Career for that fact. :popcorn:

Forwards is Finland by quite a bit. D is Sweden by a significant amount. Overall Sweden.

Remove Karlsson and its close. Big differentiator

Not at this point as Kalrsson can't stay in the lineup.

Also I put Lindell in on D instead of Vatanen.

I still thinks the Swedes are slightly better here but it's close.

Wow, shiny new toy syndrome if I ever saw one :laugh: EP over Barkov, that’s laughable.

EP outscored him this season and outside of one career year Barkov has production is in line with with what EP career PPG is. Barkov’s defence is extremely overrated as he’s declined the past two season on that side of the ice.
