In all honesty you won't get much for Baertschi as there are no teams out there with bated breath for him. Most likely you would only get a 4th or 5th round conditional pick or a player in a cap dump situation. Hold on to him for the Seattle expansion draft.

Baer will probably start the season with Leivo and Sutter on the third line and get a spot on the 2nd pp unit. He can probably get 30 to 35 P. He did get 7 ppg a few season ago on the 2nd pp unit.

I think there might be team out there willing to trade a late pick. He can provide secondary scoring if he is in the lineup. He was on pace for 20 plus goals in the last 3 seasons.

Not nothing but next to nothing. If he can have a healthy stretch and prove that those concussions aren't affecting him you might get a 3rd rounder or a somewhat equivalent player.

Baertschi has been on pace for 40+ points each of the past 3 seasons. Easily the biggest concern should be: can he stay healthy?

If he can stay healthy he should get 40-45 points.

There are lots of teams looking to unload similar players. Unless baertschi comes out big, don't expect to get much interest. At this point other teams will want to see that he can actually produce before using him as an upgrade.

Mid-late round pick. Theres a significant amount of teams running 3 scoring lines in today's NHL and thats the type of team he fan have an impact on. However the injury issues mixed with what I see as a lacking physical/two way game, i cant see him generating much interest outside of a depth scoring option.

...context is important. It's at a time where other teams need to assemble their rosters and fit under the cap, making it less likely he will be claimed.

Did Markstrom have 'negative value' when he was waived a few years ago? What about Grabner?

What? no.

Now that the Flames have their cap situation sorted, that don't need to trade Frolik. Frolik was excellent on the shut down line last year. Baertschi will not play shut down.

Baertschi could be a guy I see getting claimed. Good 2nd line winger who "paces" at about .5 PPG, signed for 2 more years at 3.6. He is a good player, just has had a brutal run of injuries and concussions. For a team with a whole in their top 6, he may be worth a shot.
