great potential for him to hit 50 points next season. Last season he did one of the nicest passes I have ever seen where he deked to people and passed the puck with one hand on the stick.

there is little reason to hate the deal.

people set their expected numbers way too high though.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much people were expecting him to get. Kassian's situation a couple of years ago is a good comparable and that contract is about where it ended up.

Vancouver, BC.
Yeah, good signing. I like Sven but was worried he'd be north of 2. Let's see what he can do with a few more seasons under his belt.

Nothing to complain about there! Hope this becomes a common theme with contracts and Benning.

Great deal for us. Was thinking he could be worth up to 2.5. Can't wait to see why we hate this move.

it shows a phenomenal lack of understanding on your part to actually anticipate that people are going to hate this move. its almost as if you've never read a single post that details why people hate our current management group

Slight underpay, but decent work for an RFA that benning had over a barrel.

Good signing. I don't mind these bridge deals.

Benning has only overpaid as far as UFA years. He seems to like short term deals for young unproven players rather than lock them up.

Still not sold on Baertschi being able to consistently keep it together BUT there is nothing wrong wth this deal.

heh, 2 years x $1.85M is exactly the deal i'd been penciling him in for. I must be some sort of clairvoyant.

I think it makes a ton of sense. It's a nice raise for Bae, but if he continues on his current trajectory, it'll be a sweet deal for the Canucks...especially in that second year. And by the end of that 2nd year, we should really know what we've got with Baertschi...and have a firm grasp on what sort of deal he will, or will not be worth longer-term.

After coming in as someone who potentially had "attitude issues," Baertschi has proven to be a pretty reasonable guy around contract time. Good deal.
