I wouldn't really call it slowly.

He died overnight when they decided to make him superhuman but not put him over, and had to put a God awful red light on all his shit.

It's exactly what was prophesied. The gimmick was great when it was left to Bray's mind and out of the ring. Once writers and bookers got their hands on it, it was doomed for failure.
