I think Bryson, Fitzgerald, Hickey, Oglevie, Glotov, and Weissbach all have varying degrees of a shot, but a shot.

Kukkonen, Kreu, and Cronholm are too new and unknown to me, and therefore, they get the TBD sticker.

The rest are varying degrees of < 1% chance, all the way to “they are prospects only by rights, but in reality, they’re done.” That first group is your Devante Stephens. That second group would be your Connor Hurleys, your Karabaceks, your Brycen Martins.

I always liked Willman from past rookie camps. Interested to see how he does at BU or BC or wherever the heck he went for one more year of eligibility.

There's always a glimmer of hope! :)

I voted for Brown, Bryson, Fitzgerald, Hickey, Johansson, Oglevie, Weissbach & Willman.

PS I don't get the love for Glotov...even at this point in the poll. I'd be shocked if he became a productive forward even at the AHL level.

I can't wait for Cornel, Karabacek, Martin, and Johansson to be off these damn polls.... constant reminder of how badly we missed with that trove of picks....... Brayden Point was on my target list after the 1st round completed.... and we passed on him 5 times.....

Was a big fan of Point too. That 2nd round was brutal.

Not voting for Brycen Martin here hurts me, he was a guy I was high on going into the draft and was super pumped we took him. /sadface

Time to move on....

You probably will see Johansson in goal today..at least he is listed first for the Columbus game.
Its really bad to miss on Point but if one variable changes there is no Dahlin..so I am happy for now.

Like the effort with the grades per usual. Funny you tiered them because there's a lot of guys who are very equal to me as well. One of the hardest lists to do in a while which is good and bad. Ready for a lot of these meh guys in that 14-22 range graduate/make it/move on (Baptiste, Bailey, Smith, O'Regan, Malone, etc)

I'll take this as an optimism post.

Yes the last 5-7 years have been brutal and awful. Embarrassment of tanking/suffering/Regier/Murray/Rookie GM's/Pegula's/Failed cores/whatever is someone's belief the mistakes have been,
We now have so many bright spots and a competitive culture brewing that might make it go all away, especially if we fulfill the vision of becoming an elite team year in and out and can hopefully win the trophy with a lot of this group.

We have two dynamic game changers at two of the most important positions (Dahlin/Eichel)
We have great young players to assist those two as the core (Skinner/Mittelstadt/Reinhart (if he signs)/Ristolainen)
Some great young pieces that will get into that above category (Thompson/Asplund/Nylander/Borgen/etc.)
Some decent good aged vet depth (Sheary/Berglund/Okposo (pending he rebounds this year)/Scandella/etc.)

AND

3 Other bright spots

1.) We lose a ton of contracts in the next year or two to give us money to sign our young guys (Moulson/Pominville/Beaulieu/Bogosian (if he doesn't rebound)/Sobotka (if he doesn't rebound)/Hunwick
2.) A lot of that bottom 6 depth/bottom defense pair is completely up for grabs and will figure itself out this year (Sobotka/Wilson/Pominville/Girgensons/Larsson/Rodrigues/Baptiste/Bailey/O'Regan/Smith/Malone/Oglevie/Beaulieu/McCabe/Bogosian/Nelson/Hunwick/etc.
3.) We have a ton of capital in draft assets including 3 first round picks this year to continue to add young talented depth to replace players on cheap ELCs when some of our current guys get off of ELCs.

We are not there yet, and might not make the playoffs as there will be some growing pains, but this team is heading in the right direction and I am optimistic in the future for this franchise.

Surprise: Luukonen. He looked bad in literally every game I got to see last season.
Disappointment: Not sure how it could be anyone but Guhle
Riser: it’s got to be UPL. After Dahlin and Mittelstadt graduate, he’s #1 for me.

My top 20:
1. Dahlin
2. Mittelstadt
3. Luukkonen
4. Asplund
5. Pilut
6. Thompson
7. Olofsson
8. Nylander
9. Laaksonen
10. Borgen
11. Davidsson
12. Guhle
13. Samuelsson
14. Bryson
15. Smith
16. Leier
17. Pekar
18. O'Regan
19. Dougherty
20. Weissbach

Side note: it’s maddening to see how thin our pool is considering if the Sabres us drafted off my board, Philip Kurashev, Veini Vehvilainen, and Trey Fix-Wolansky are all top 20. Well, and you’d have to swap Samuelsson for Filip Hallander which I’d still be fine with.

Had this list for a thread in the prospects section so it doesn't have Dahlin/Mitts/Tage. Dahlin obviously #1, Mitts goes between Nylander and VO, Tage somewhere in the Borgen range.
