I chime in and say 2 minutes roughing. Still don't get that in a pre-season game. Does he need to fight for his roster spot?

It's a bit of a weird move tbh, I don't think many players use that, but I've seen Subban do this "punch hit" a couple of times (notoriously against McKinnon). I guess it's easily a roughing if he swings it hard enough. Bit of a jerk move (I could see some tougher players getting upset about it) but not suspension worthy obviously.
I haven't seen him do this before I don't see him play much,,but I wonder if he does it to players who are likely to drop the gloves.I somehow doubt it!

If anyone is still in search of a name for their fantasy team this year... the title is a pretty good one.

No, it's called roughing and there is a 2 minute penalty for it.
right, but since you can injure a player doing this, shouldn't there be a 5 min penalty for this violent punch.... just poking someone with your stick usually get you 5 mins. this punch should give the bastardo subban 5 mins

No. If its violent enough to need a major then give a fighting penalty. Roughing is a minor penalty.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, but a punch from a gloved hand to the chest piece of the shoulder pads will cause approximately no pain to anyone.

Are people really saying this is anything more than maybe 2mins?

Look at Aho's right leg in that replay. It's almost a slewfoot type move where Subban's knee is behind Aho's, leaving Aho with only one skate in contact with the ice as he's being pushed backward. No matter how big you are, that's an uncontrolled topple.

Lmao. "Slewfoot" actually means something. It's a contact sport and skaters approach each other from any angle but slewfooting specifically means dragging or kicking out an opponent's skate or leg from behind. That doesn't even come close to happening in this instance. It's good to see that some hfboards posters still haven't learned what "slewfooting" actually is and use it for any contact they don't like.

Canes fan saying 2 min penalty is what that was worth, it was far less egregious than many of his other plays in that game, such as the kneeing on Turbo, several other punches to the face, and i'm pretty sure he was the Pred that got away with boarding 9 seconds into the game.

Life long ban. Wreckless. Brutal. Out of control.

I suggest the NHL removes hitting and make it mandatory for all players to skate with a giant inner-tube around them to reduce the risk of injury during inadvertent collisions!
