Subban punching Aho from behind

The game is gettin 'softer...Aho should of made Subban answer the bell for that cheap shot. If he isn't the type to engage, then a team mate should of made him answer the bell or taken note, at least for future meetings.
For those rating Subbans action as 'not so bad' ,let me ask...do you want more of this in the game or less of this in the game? This is the type of thing that leads to escalation of dirty 'tit for tat' 'type play.

Subban doesn't answer, he turtles. He is a bit of a coward on the ice.

This didn't look like much unless he got the player in the head.

Eh.... it’s debatable if that’s a roughing/interference penalty but definitely not suspension worthy imo.

Pretty much this. He might have gone a bit hard with the push, but this is not a punch from behind.

I was expecting a punch to the back of the head, not a big push off his chest. The Buzzfeed type titles here need to stop. Let the video do the talking, not your hyperbole.

Not the first time i see him doing that. Usually its more subtle and it pass as a bodycheck but yeah no ..this isnt right

Yup, he's been getting away with that "punch-check" since the day he entered the league. I have no idea why they never call him on it. It's in no way whatsoever a hockey play, it's roughing plain and simple. I've been saying for years if you take away some of the stuff Subban does that others players would be called for, he never gets a Norris trophy. Nobody gets away with as much chippiness, interference and outright roughing as Subban.

More concerned with Aho. Does he weigh 123 pounds? Get that young man a sandwich.

It’s a push. In a preseason game. Stop it

Aho's actually pretty solid on his feet. He's not a wide-body type at 5'11" 172, but he's shrugged off harder hits from bigger guys than Subban.

Look at Aho's right leg in that replay. It's almost a slewfoot type move where Subban's knee is behind Aho's, leaving Aho with only one skate in contact with the ice as he's being pushed backward. No matter how big you are, that's an uncontrolled topple.

Just kidding man. Subban caught him at a funny angle.

Looked like EA sports collision engine at work there though

That’s Subban’s signature move. As long as the hit is to the chest, a 2 min roughing each time is fine. I just get annoyed when they call nothing at all.

I give credit to Subban for taking the body on a player facing the boards and sending them the opposite direction. If he just went for the typical body check he could have done some major damage.

This is barely a rough, if that. The wind-up is the worst part of it.

Yes, I originally thought it was a head shot ! Still, not a hockey play! Well, this relates to the topic of 'fighting' ,this stuff is what (used to) piss players/fans off. If the Ref calls it then ok I guess justice is served somewhat, but what if the player(Aho) is injured and is kept out for an extended period, was the penalty enough? I don't think so!
These actions can be defined as cowardly on Subbans part (he probably thinks he is clever) but for me this is the type of action that should be heavily penalized as it has the potential to incite violent responses that the league is working towards eliminating under the guise of player safety!

It's a bit of a weird move tbh, I don't think many players use that, but I've seen Subban do this "punch hit" a couple of times (notoriously against McKinnon). I guess it's easily a roughing if he swings it hard enough. Bit of a jerk move (I could see some tougher players getting upset about it) but not suspension worthy obviously.
