bertuzzi was never better than he was in 2002. he finished 3rd in points and led the league in points/game in 2002. he was 5th and 7th, respectively, in 2003.

Too many people that cover the game don't know it that well anyhow...to be fair, it's a lot of ground to cover these days with 31 teams. Games go from 7 pm to 1 am ET every night. Not to make excuses, because I'm first to criticize this nonsense. But like any other job, if you're not into it, you're not into it and as such, results get wonky...

Cooperstown recently cut out a ton of its voters. Deadspin or some other investigative site had found out that in some cases guys who were voting for the hall of fame selections hadn't covered baseball in 17 years. One guy had covered Golf for the last 20.
