Ruled no goal on the ice... Montreal challenges that there was continuous motion after an inadvertent whistle, and it's ruled a good goal... Then LA challenges that there was goalie interference and it's reviewed and ruled no goal.

Wasn't a high stick on the play, so they corrected that.
Shaw clearly backs into Campbell before the puck gets there. So they corrected that.

Not sure why they couldn't just get it all together in one review.

I guess it's strange in the sense that 2 reviews aren't common. But that's the right process.

Except for the fact that Montreal can't challenge that call. Challengers are only for offside and goalie intereference. They can ask it to be reviewed it's the league offices call, which goalie interference isn't the league offices and has to be team iniated which obviously they wouldn't ask for on a no goal call so that's why the double review happens

something like this has happened to the kings before last year (or a couple years ago?) it's just really stupid how it took place. Waste of time and emotions.

I think it was ultimately the right call, but I've never seen or heard of a goal getting overturned and then overturned again before... has to be the first time that's happened.

Price was dragged out of his crease last year but the goal counted because a fraction of his foot was out of the blue.

On this goal the contact was clearly out of the blue ice but it was overturned.

I don't even care what the rule should be, I just wish there was any semblance of consistency.

Yeah, that was pretty bizarre, especially with how long it took on the initial review.

Because the league(refs) aren't allowed to review goalie interference unless a team challenges. The Kings obviously wouldn't challenge something that's not called a goal, so they have to review to make it a legal goal(by other rules) before the goalie interference would be reviewed via challenge.

This comes up a couple times a year since the change to challenges, and I don't understand how everyone seems to be baffled by the process each and every time it happens.

Because a review is called on specific grounds. The coach calling for review has to say "it should/shouldn't be X" and then the war room agrees or disagrees.

Talk to the refs who were more baffled than anyone...

There was no Montreal challenged involved. The war room just sought to find out why on earth the referee blew the whistle (I'm not sure even he knew) and once they determined it wasn't for any good reason, and given they can't review goalie interference without a challenge, they determined the puck went into the net and it's a goal. As they should. There was no challenge involved in that, it was a league initiated review (you heard the siren go off to alert the referees the war room wanted to look at something).

Once the goal is announced, then it's on the Kings to make the challenge, which they obviously would as it was pretty clear contact.

Would have been a standard goal/GI challenge/overturn if it wasn't for the bizarre/stupid quick whistle confusing things.

he was the main reason habs won games for over half a decade, he made bargainbin pay the price for being so reliant on him.

when the league is involved like that, the other review (ref one) should go simultaneously. Kings should say, if it's rule a good goal, I challenged for X. They shouldn't be allowed to have 5 min to review it.

A price I wouldn't have paid. Cause he just made sure the team will be garbage after that contract since it's so bloated.

don't feel bad. It might cost the GM his job which would be the best news.

not going to argue that its a bad contract, he hid the habs problems for years and since bargainbin continued to deplete the roster by making horrible moves, keeping price was just beyond useless. what good is having an elite expensive goalie when the team in front of him is rebuilding and absolute trash ?

i don't think bergevin gets fired. allowing him to be part of the rebuild, shows how much of a bff he is with molson.
