I've always liked him but not much to indicate he will be anything special yet. He has a lot of potential so I've always thought holding onto him for a bit longer made sense. He can't be worse than the mrazek, pickard, etc types

In a way its good that he has a connection to Holmgren's GM tenure, it could dissuade Homer from a Frost/Myers/Hart for 38 yr old goalie type of deal.

Stolarz will get a chance because there are no viable alternatives right now.
And they can carry three goalies, they have the cap and roster room.

I'll withhold judgement until he plays 10-20 games or so.

He's big and athletic.

Problem is, sometimes he plays small, and he doesn't track the puck the best. BUT Athleticism can occasionally make up for both of those issues.

We'll see how things turn out. But he's loaded with potential.

He was my favorite flyers prospect after 2013. Then he got that laceration in London and its been flukey injury after flukey injury ever since. When i watched him in london he was 6'6' and an athletic freak. Positioning , rebound control were not up to par but the potential was there. I Don't know if he can handle a heavy duty schedule , but he played great in Pittsburgh.

Keep giving him the opportunity until Elliott comes back(who was playing great before getting injured). And then see if a platoon works.

Regardless, this is the year to see what you have in Stolie. If he impresses, then you know you have your backup for next year(I am assuming Hart will be AHL again)

I’m torn between options 1 and 3 so I’ll just make my own 4th option;

I think Stolie can establish himself as an average starter, which will allow Hart to come along at his own pace and make him overtake an actual goalie to become our franchise tendy.

Yes but Hakstol will literally not use Stolarz at all if Elliot is healthy. Elliot will start every game until he gets injured again.
