Nash for Stastny

Will Schenn play C ? Rangers need a C . Shakes both teams up and both ufa

No. The Rangers just moved Stepan who was 27, 6.25 AAV and a perennial mid 50 pt scorer. Why would they acquire a 31yr old, 7m AAV player who hasn't scored 50 pts in 3 years? No chance. Doesn't help us and Nash is more valuable than that to us.

I think the Ranger are looking for a franchise center in the mold of Duchene. I don't know if they will find that but Statsny would have been great to get from the Av's years ago, not now.

Maybe they wanted the 7th overall pick more?

Rangers will move Nash at the deadline as the top rental asset, or gladly let him cap hit expire in the summer. They are under no pressure move him, especially not for a similar salary with longer term.

Can't see either team doing this. Both guys cost a little to much and are a shadow of their former selves.

Cmon man. We don't even know if Schenn is a center fit here. Stastny is out only legitimate top 6C atm. We are about in the same boat you guys are with center and wing depth. Loaded on wings with a lot of fringe centers. Not good trading partners.

Assume Schenn is going to play right wing. Even if he does play center, Stastny is a better player right now. Why would they trade their best center for someone who won't even play on their first line?

Not moving Stastny, Schenn isn't even a guarantee to play C. By all accounts, he's more effective at W.

Anyone who is asking the Blues to trade Paulie Walnuts for anything other than an upgrade at center hasn't been participating in any other Blues trade discussions on this board. The last thing the Blues need is to trade their best center when they have nothing right now at the NHL level that could replace him. Paul will most likely extend after this season at a much friendlier salary and finish out his career in his home town.

You have the same problem the Rangers have with Nash. He is too valuable to your team but too old and expensive to expect getting an upgrade on.

IIRC both guys have 1 year left
this is an old school hockey trade
from NYR side this could work

Blues still need Stastny. Schenn is meant to be in addition to him not to replace him. He may not even be best for us as a C.

Now if we could interest you in a nice smooth Vintage '17 Berglund we could maybe work something out.

We counter with a slightly used Marc Staal

Berglund actually has some decent value since he's a pretty reasonably priced 2W/3C who scores goals and plays good defense.

That Staal contract is awful, and LOL at the offer of Staal for Stastny. Christ. Stastny is overpaid for 1 more season, not 4.
