STL gets Panarin (but only with extention)
    Toronto gets Parayko
    Columbus gets Nylander

Toronto and STL fans have been arguing about Parayko for Nylander for eternity, and it looks like St. Louis fans aren't very happy about this possible deal. But extended Panarin is a different beast, and the team gets the best player out of this trade. Toronto gets its RHD stud, and exactly for Nylander. And Cbj gets a very good player in a situation, when the team can't be very picky.

That would be even better for STL, of course, but I'm afraid, Toronto won't agree to such a trade. Even if you offer them Pietrangelo instead of Parayko.

Panarin is great, but this makes the Blues a worse team because they have no replacement for Parayko. The only way a Parayko deal makes sense is if it includes a player coming back who can immediately perform on the right side of the second pairing.

Look, I love Panarin as a player. Him on the Blues would be just lovely, and the value here is good. But the Blues already have Schwartz, Steen, Fabbri, and Maroon on the Left Wing, and this trade makes the Blues RHD depth going into the year as Petro, Bortuzzo, and Schmaltz. For a rental (which I assume Panarin is until proven wrong), we actually don't make our team better going into next year because we are filling a hole we don't have by making a gigantic one.

This would blow the salary cap for STL, and would worsen the logjam at forward. Now STL would have to make another trade of probably a couple of forwards and picks for a replacement at #2RHD and try to stay out of cap hell. Too many moving pieces just so some TML fan can get their wet dream fulfilled. And why would CBJ do this anyway? They could get better than Nylander with the right deal. Finally, why would Panarin, who basically has been indicated in the media who wants to play in a big market, extend with CBJ and lose any leverage of getting to play where he wants to play?

If the Blues wanted to acquire Panarin, they could do so without ever having to involve Parayko, and they could deal directly with CBJ instead of involving Toronto.

Don't think this trade will be practical. Panarin reportedly only wants to play in Fla (specifically with the Panthers?), NYC, LA, Chicago

From the Leafs end, I'd be open to Parayko now that we have Tavares.

That might be the worst trade of all time if it happened. Not only would it be downright terrible, it would be worse because Hall for Larsson showed us two years ago how that turns out

This has been repeatedly said to not be true according to Panarin and his agent. That rumor wasn't even started from Panarin's comments - just some dude's speculation.

Parayko is better than Larson, panarin is not as good as hall. Do the math how does that make this trade worse

See but I'm not so sure there's a deal to be made with St. Louis without involving Toronto in this scenario. We are not looking for futures, which is what St. Louis could offer in the form of their top prospects (Kyrou/Thomas/etc). But Nylander is the type of roster player we'd be looking for in return. So it's not a bad idea. Good job OP.

CBJ accepting futures is more likely than STL agreeing to trading Parayko for Panarin, IMO. IF STL can't get him for futures, then there's not much of a reason for STL to acquire Panarin given their lack of RHD replacements, their relative depth on LW, and the need to be adding to their core - not subtracting. CBJ can look elsewhere to get roster players in return, but it will be difficult considering the need to find a partner that has the cap space, the roster players, the ability to S&T Panarin, has room to protect Panarin and the rest of their players in the ED, and can survive the CBA lockout and pay Panarin's salary. We're talking teams that are either pretender or contender status, and I don't think any of those teams would be willing to put forth the kind of roster players needed to make a mostly non-futures deal work - especially when you consider the cap for those teams.

If CBJ can find that team, they should take it, but I'm willing to bet that when Panarin is traded it will be based more around futures than anything.

Once again my friend, from a Blues perspective, NO to Nylander for Parayko. If that's not what you're proposing, then my apologies, but Parayko to Toronto has seriously been beaten to death and I don't think acquiring Tavares would significantly change anything.

Nah, I doubt STL can offer anybody better, than Nylander to Cbj.

85+126 in 230 vs 88+145 in 243 in the last 3 seasons... And this is with Hall's Hart season, so Edmonton actually traded a little bit different Hall.

There are four trade proposals currently (on Page 1) involving Leafs and a top 4 defender. Seems like an average day.
