good point even getting one thing fixed still leaves tons of holes in the team.. the team is dysfunctional now... very much like the Maclean start where it takes weeks and a new coaching staff to even recover... Shero will be doing the fans, and the owners alike if he isn't proactive with his approach to this team in the really really really near future.. like Hynes you need a streak where this team wins 4 out of 5 or you're gone... problem is there is no way in hell this team is structured for that

Dysfunctional is the perfect way to describe this situation. And truth be told, the warning signs were there in the preseason. I think people tend to write the preseason off due to the frequent overturn of the roster but you can usually tell if a team is going to be good in the upcoming season. They’re is a clear game plan in place. There’s progress being made and momentum being built. I saw none of it in September. Things felt stagnant. The same shit that has been plaguing this team for years was still on display. Having said that, I’d never imagined that they’d be this bad. I figured they would be a .500 squad this year, maybe a couple games below. They’re not even close to that. They’re actually the worst team in the entire league.

I understand Jack has no points in 6 games.
But can somebody give me a little bit of a scouting report on how he has done in the first six games, I’m a very big fan of his so I’m quite curious if he’s just kind of snake bitten or not.

thanks guys!

People going after Jack is insane to me. If he was being lazy and not having a care in the world I'd be concerned. How he hasn't gotten on the scoresheet is beyond me. He has some areas where he needs to improve his game and that's fine because it's a part of his development. He will learn. He is the absolute least of our worries.

a bit snake bit today. He has gotten better every game. Being sheltered 5 on 5 a bit and is probably being hurt the the teams coaching/structural mess.

Jack's biggest problem to start was being harder on the puck and pressuring his assignment. He's improved that more and more with each game. Fighting it along with everyone else, I'd say, but he's getting there.

This season's nearly over.

On October 14th. Gross.

IF it takes an average 96 points to make the playoffs (some years it's a few points less, some a touch more, but 96 is a good bet), at a minimum the Devils will need about a .566 to a .592 win percentage from here on out (math below).

Points-theoretical.jpg

Last season there were only 8 teams better than .566, and only 7 better than .592.

So to make the playoffs this year, starting tomorrow the Devils need to be a top-10 NHL squad for the rest of the season.

GOOD LUCK WITH ALL THAT.
Well, when you begin by losing 7% of the season...

he’s snake bitten. He’s driven play very well. He should probably have a few points and and two goals at this point. He’s hit two posts in two games. Today’s game was a post but also a good defensive play by Stralman That resulted in him not getting a clean chance at the puck and putting it in.

each game he’s looking more dangerous than the last imo.

He had a pretty rough first two games, lots of perimeter play and not really engaging. Since then he's been one of our more dangerous offensive players. He's been creating a lot of chances. He's been robbed of a few highlight reel points due to incredible saves/posts/lack of finish.

Finally got back home from arena, note to self: don't park in that edison self-park with only 1 exit out.

This team needs to get their shit together real fast. This is fundamentally BEYOND embarrassing, This is one of the first games I can remember where the boo birds came out after the 4-4, and 4-5 goals and the fans completely livid. It's like the end of season when they don't give a shit anymore. Boo birds everywhere and they laid a shit egg when all the kids and families around, enjoying the game.

How many dumps can they take on the home fans like this? 4-1 lead? 4-6 loss in 3rd period? The WPG game the same, and the previous game the same, blowing leads like its no tomorrow. Every game its a blown 2nd period late goal. I don't want to go through the Palms thing again either. I said my piece on that. Special teams a joke, the PP is purtrid, completely static at one point, guys literally anchored to their spots just waiting for the puck to be fed to them.

Zacha looked like the best player out there for NJ today, dominant when the team was doing well. Hall was good for spurts, which is what we need, but the whole team couldn't string together passes, both defense and offense today. Puck just bouncing, behind players, in skates.

I can't imagine Hynes gonna be here any longer, even if some of this on the players where they should stop doing stupid stuff (aka Palms).

If anything the special teams coach has to go. No PP goals this season and PK not much better.

Also, would be nice is Cory could make that big save to bail out the failing core. I know its not all on him either, but we need some saves in big moments as well. Palms f***ed up, but we could use a big save to get out of the period, it wasn't an unstoppable puck.

remember when Boston clowned us with only half its roster and we thought it was because they had just gotten off the plane? Lol.

I know I'll get railed for this one, because its a bad time to bring this up, and am genuinely hesitant to say this, but Hughes is a quagmire right now. He isn't standing out strongly in a positive way. More neutral impact overall.

Again, he's probably about number 10 on the list of who to rail on at the given moment (Hynes, Palms, Subban, Vets, Goaltending, Hall....Nico....Special teams PP, Special Teams pk) but he isn't standing out as having an NHL impact. Too many soft plays, decision making seems a bit suspect more than not. He had maybe 1 or 2 plays I can remember in game where it was a chance, but others were mostly meh.

I don't expect him to be leading this team for sure this season, but I also didn't expect him to be this invisible (impact wise). I don't think we should keep the bar low for him either, because sheltering him and saying he'll get it, he'll get it....... When? He's a #1 o/a pick, no points already, not stellar defensively (which could be okay if we were doing better). I wish the team could get him going, or somehow utilize him better. I know we need to make sure he gets settled in, but he's drafted and expected to be an impact player at some point soon.....

Man...I sure am glad I missed this game (forgot it was on 1 pm) 'cause I would be breaking things in my apartment right now. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Oh well....at least Bratt scored so that's something.

And Zacha had a nice day.

Oh and that Hall guy scored, too.

Aside from that, it looked almost exactly like a Carbon-copy of Game 1 against the Winnipeg Jets.

Oh and speaking of The Jets (if I may go a bit OT here), the football team got their first win before we did.:confused::confused::confused:

This is just pure madness. :baghead:
