gotta say hes been a good story this year considering what he gets paid . Pretty solid play all year given his up and down time . Should get a deal in the offseason from someone and it would be good to see
Sorry to quote myself but my prediction from October was pretty accurate (he’ll likely end up with 35-38 games played). There needs to be a thread about noted tough guy Steven Kampfer.
I am happy with his play so far and is a great guy to have as a #8 defenseman. Knowing the injuries this team always has on D, I would expect him to get 40ish games this year.
Not just you. Seems like a good guy who has been working hard (even when he wasn't in the games) . He is certainly a good extra guy to have around. He seems to have a great attitude. Is it me or has he looked pretty damn good lately?
I'm not sure why no one hasn't posted anything here. Scored his 1st playoff goal in just his 2nd playoff game last night.
Played a solid rookie season with the Bruins when they won the cup in 2011. Was a healthy scratch in that cup run.
Made a History will be Made video for him.
I think he’s played around 30 games this year. In 2011 he played 36 in the regular season and didn’t get his name on the cup. How many playoff games would he have needed to play?
I think teams can also petition for specific players to get their names on it, too. I believe they did this with Marc Savard, no?Name inscriptionsEdit
Currently, to qualify for automatic engraving, a player:
- Must have played, or have dressed as the backup goaltender, for at least half of the championship team's regular season games. OR:
- Must have played, or have dressed as the backup goaltender, for at least one game of the Stanley Cup Finals for the championship team, AND:
- Must be on the roster when the team wins the Stanley Cup
Yes they petitioned for Savvy.I think teams can also petition for specific players to get their names on it, too. I believe they did this with Marc Savard, no?
Always thought he did a good job as the 7th guy. Everyone losing their minds when he plays makes me smile, it could be worse and we have seen that in the past. Guy is the a pro, waiting his time and a good teammate.
I think what’s impressive with him is the amount of time away from playing in actual games and coming in still able to contribute.
Sure he’s a bit of a liability at times but that’s tough to get thrown into a playoff game after not playing since Round 1.
Anyway glad he put one in, never would have guessed that. Wasn’t too happy with him when he shoved his man into Tuukka though.
Ya I actually thought the Bruins”had” to take him back as part of the deal. Boy was I wrong. He’s perfect 7th guy to carry
Pretty good little player and good teammate
I enjoy watching this version and I cringed when they got him
Love being wrong on this
Yikes that is tough.Never knew this. Sounds like his sister is a good source of perspective for him
'She’s tougher than anyone in this room': Why Steven...
Kristin Kampfer, 32, is two years older than her brother. Born with congenital heart disease, she’s been a lifelong inspiration for Steven, and serves as his source of motivation.
“She’s tougher than anyone in this room,” Kampfer said. “I’d put my sister up there as one of the toughest people I have ever met.”
Kristin has had 29 major surgeries in her life. It all started with open-heart surgery only a few days after she was born. At 16, she had titanium rods inserted into her back because of Scoliosis. The procedure took 10 hours. The rods extend the entire length of her spine and she was in a back brace for six months.
