Maybe. I hope so. Like I said, I don't know enough about him to say one way or the other. His advanced metrics are cringe-inducing but I don't know exactly how much stock I put into that.

As for the bolded, I completely agree. With both statements. I think we can at least all mostly agree on Spaling or Downie (to a lesser degree) starting in the top six probably means something has gone wrong. But I also think that they could do worse... such as the guys that have been slotted there in years past... even up to last season. I would way rather see Spaling lined up next to Sid or Malkin (especially during injuries) than Tanner freakin' Glass.

maybe its just me convincing myself but i dont put any stock into his advanced statistics from nashville. He was in a strictly defensive role on a team that plays no offense to begin with.
