They keep track of how the goals went in in the boxscore, but is there a big list of how many wrist shots someone scored one? How many rebounds, tip-ins, etc? Anyone have all their goals off rebounds or all on slapshots, etc.

I'd like to see a count on how many times a team enters the offensive zone with the puck. I don't think defensemen generally get credited with preventing shots during their time on ice under any current stat, and if teams are continually mounting attacks but not piling up shots on net, it's likely that they are being thwarted by good defensive play. It would be a flawed way to quantify something that doesn't get quantified at all that I know of, but it's something.

Penalties drawn. For example, last year Stalberg and Skille didn't take many minors but they drew a lot of them with their speed and didn't get enough credit for it.

You beat me to it

For instance, Ken Linseman is always knocked for taking so many penalties but i wonder how many he caused the other team to take because of his infuriating antics? I'll bet if we subtracted those "penalties drawn" from his penalties incurred he wouldn't seem like such a liability? This would apply especially to other "pest" type players like Marchand today.

This is a gripe that I have about the newspaper design of the league standings in all sports: they don't have a column for team games played (or games remaining).

So, late in the season, you look at the morning paper and note that Philadelphia is ahead of Boston, but let's see, Philadelphia has played, er, 41 wins plus 38 losses, or 79, and New York has played 40 plus 37, so that difference is tenuous, and mostly attributable to the extra games. And how about the third-place teamm? 39 plus 38, is that better or worse?

That kind of thing! They have a column for Home-Road and Last 10 and Overtime Losses That Aren't Really Losses and a bunch of other things, but you still have to do some math to figure out who's leading.

I'd probably prefer a "Games Played" count up until mid-season, followed by a count down of "Games Remaining" thereafter. Or just use Games Remaining throughout (as that spares you from having to remember the length of the schedule).

Exactly.
I think most important info is:
GP, Won2, Won1, Lost1, Lost0 GF GA Pts GoalDifference
or
GTP Won (Won2+Won1) Lost (Lost2+Lost1) GF GA Pts GoalDifference

Won2 and Lost2 are when no extra point was handed out. Won1 and Lost1 are when extra point was handed out.
I find it increasingly strange that those stats are not being shown.

Wouldn't you guys want to see at one glance that kind of information? How many games has the team played? How many wins and how many losses? How many wins compared to losses? Instead the strange way it is shown today.

It would be so symmetrical. Everyone would benefit from it.

Internationally, they tend to show the standings more similar to my suggestion above.
