I remember Liverpool were linked with him at one point and while not a popular choice he's performed quite well for Brighton.

I remember ripping those rumours into the ground because I was not a Gross fan at the start of his tenure and didnt think he was a good call for Pool jn the slightest. He has grown on me the last 12ish months though and under Potter has been arguably our best player.

Damn, Messi.

Some 'newish' stand-outs this season like Memphis, Berardi (reinvigorated?) and Immobile (wtf is he on).

Messi is playing a different sport. They honestly just retire footy when he's done. He perfected the game.

List of players who have scored over 40 non-penalty goals in the last 20 years.

mwsi2vo449t41.png

These are sorted by their ratios. As such, if a player has scored over 40 goals across multiple season, the season where his games per goal ratio was the best will be included. For instance, Messi in 2012-13 had 55 non-penalty goals as opposed to 59 in 2011-12, but his ratio for the former is better, and that's why it's included instead.

Peak Suarez was still 13/14...hot take Peak Suarez > Peak CR7

Emiliano Buendía stats:

3rd in PL in total completed take-ons
3rd in PL Assists
2nd in PL in key passes per game (only KdB is better)
Assisted on 28% of Norwich's goals (leads PL)
3.0 total tackles + interceptions in the game (so it's not like he's a soft player, far from it actually)

He is the modern creative midfielder and in my opinion way better bang for buck than English players like Maddison and Grealish, who will surely cost 2-3x as much. His stats would be way better if not for Norwich's woeful finishing.

He destroyed Man City when Norwich beat them 3-2 early in the season.

I think he'd fit very well on a team like Atletico Madrid.

I was always a fan of Fabian Ruiz' eye test but his stats are giving me a good indicator that a top European side should snap him up from Napoli.

Defensively he brings 1.7 tackles and 1.2 interceptions per 90 with 0.7 fouls in Serie A. While it isn't insanely elite numbers, its definitely good for a guy who isn't THE holding midfielder but is holds responsibilities in helping the defense.

His 1.5 kp/90 and 1.2 dribbles is pretty good, and he has a 90.5 passing percentage. He also draws more fouls than he gives up, drawing 0.9 per 90.

While I already really loved his eye test, the stats show me a player who can be very important in Spain's midfield in the future.

De Bruyne is a god but Mahrez doesn’t get enough respect he’s unreal too. City is so stacked.

There are some systemic implications in this obviously.
Yea I commented in one of the gameweek threads recently that Mahrez was expected to be a backup at City, but has been one of their best players over the last 2 years.

Different kind of players, very promising player. Arsenal would be wise to get him, could be Ozil's replacement

Was thinking more in terms of a high potential mid-fielder.

Partey will be a closer like for like Geundouzi replacement. Different players still, but more similar in position.
